This seems really wrong to me...why would they fire him for this? He wasn't doing anything bad to the store, unless it was for being generally dishonest, but it still seems like a crappy reason to fire someone.

No, I haven't seen the program, I've seen ads for it and the dude has some show that I've seen on a few times where he lines cars up and yells about how much he's slashing prices and the people driving them are all dressed up in hilarious outfits. One of the cars was driven by this black guy, when he got out he was dressed like a cowboy. After walking towards the camera like he was in shootout for a few seconds the King of Cars guy asked him who he was and the cowboy responded with 'I'm the Rump Ranger!'.

It was 1994 so I'm struggling to remember all the details, but IIRC first he was removed from his manager position on suspicion of theft. They demoted him to basic cashier, sure he could still handle money but his till had to balance and he wouldn't be in the office with possession of any.

Then they sent him on a roving shift to a nearby store where the sting went down. That was kind of rare and I don't know why they felt the need to wax him there, maybe because they didn't want to make a scene around a bunch of people that he knew. Plus the store was way slower than ours so not a lot of people would have been around should he have chosen to make a scene.

I hope that makes more sense as to why he did it. Plus it's outright theft and as far as I know that $20 becomes the store's property for safekeeping and needs to be locked in the safe.

Alas, most of those interviews were before I found 2+2.

A good 4-5 years ago during high school I knew someone who was working at a McD's during the scratch and win promotion. Between 3 of us we scratched over 500 stolen S&W's for a grand total of ~100 McChickens, ~50 cones, ~50 double cheeseburgers and a ridiculous number of apple pies. Sure there was the occasional milkshake too, but those were a rare treat. We lived like kings that winter, boys. Burger. Kings.

The only time I ever took any cash was either to get pizza or starbucks for employees, or to set up our private petty cash fund, and when I was sent to manage in other stores, Id take some cash for gas and/or parking. Ususally fake refunds.

Bitcho is right, but I get time-and-a-half when I have to moderate he and Euro trolling each other in the Golf forum so I actually make more than the average starting mod.

When I worked ff, I had a manager who would take the nightly deposits to the boats and gamble with it, and then either replace the money with his winnings or try to cook the books. After maybe a month the cops came one afternoon and arrested him.

in college i worked at chapters, a large bookstore chain in canada. my very first shift i had a bag with me (filled with homework i'd done during my breaks) and one of the assistant managers (we had like seven) stops me at the door and asks to search my bag. i had just done like $1800 in sales completely unsupervised (ie, i could have easily pocketed any of it) and they were concerned that i was stealing books i could buy for like $6.
