guys, this thread is worth opening from a bourbon POV. Scroll back about 10 days and you can read the OP's trip report of a 4 day bourbon tour in Kentucky and there's some interesting and fun chat

The general consenus is that it was a great value ~10 yrs ago when it was under $30. At 60 or more, there are generally better options. A victim of the bourbon boom.

And yeah, I agree, inconsistent now.

It was $55 at the local Costco and I enjoyed it. Definitely wouldn’t want to pay anything approaching 75-100 (I typically try to keep individual bottles under 100 anyway)

Blantons is solid for MSRP, which is about 70-80$.

I've gotten to the point that I just sit around waiting for texts if I want to buy rare whiskey now.

Recently picked up a couple of Russells Camp Nelson Bs, a couple Bardstown Discovery 12s, a couple Redwood Empire Haystack Needle, and a Penelope 10 year estate

Picked up a couple more just because Costco gets some things around the holidays that I don't normally see (not even super-premiums, I assume): Knob Creek 12 yr for 53 and Heaven Hill 7 yr for 40.

Its pretty solid. Lots of traditional rye notes but I got a unique green tea note off last years 4 year

Another Costco purchase. Never paid more than $100 for a bottle and now skipped straight to $200

I wasn’t going to pull the trigger but it was $50 cheaper than Total Wine and $40 cheaper than the liquor store that has “everything”

After trying most all bourbons on and off during the last 50 years or so, and my liver shows it, I've settled on just regular Jack Daniels now. After all, if Frank Sinatra called it 'the nectar of the Gods' who am I to argue? Plus, with my rapidly decreasing retirement fund (thanks Biden!), can't afford to become a booze snob.

Pretty sure I remember a stripper at the Cadillac lounge, in Providence, that had “Cask strength” tattooed just above her vagina.

Funny enough it was a byob strip club.
