Dear OOT,

I am a grown ass man with no furniture. When I bought my house I intended to do the regular thing and get a couch/ coffee table/ etc. for the living room, but whilst shopping around online my eye has wandered away from the traditional towards putting a pool table in there instead of your boring ass ****. What say you? Be advised that as with every OOT advice thread OP Ima do what I want newayz.

If you're over the age of 30, get some real furniture

That was my first thought, but I'm not having the book club over for finger sandwiches or inviting the Queen of England over to watch the Pats game so why not a pool table?

get the pool table assuming your house is big enough, has somewhere else for table/chairs you don't need a couch

Do it. I used to have a ping-pong table in mine, no regrets.

Do you need the couch/will you be able to put a couch/tv/table somewhere else ? I have moments where I'm sitting on my couch and using my coffeetable even when the Queen of England isn't around at that specific time.

Because you'll never use it and you'll end up selling it for $100 to some coworker in a few years just to get rid of the damn thing.

How often do you play pool?

Room measurements or gtfo...

Also,
1. What zikzak said unless you're a srs. Pool player
2. Why not both...you can get a basic couch for a couple hundred bucks
3. LATHES ARE NOT PLAYED OUT.

Also just recently say a pool table that had a top on it to use as a table, look into that if you're going that route imo.

How old are you?

What is your current relationship status?

What is your plan/hope for relationship status in the future?

Gonna go against the grain here and say neither. Furniture is all well and good, but let's face it, too little too late at this point. Also, they have Virtual Pool on Steam now, which is a great way to make friends from the comfort of your own papasan.

I don't get this "couches are for affluent people" attitude. They are super, super standard.

A pool table seems like a reasonable thing to debate in lieu of a dining room table, and an absurd thing to debate in lieu of a coffee table.

Goddamnit, this might be the correct answer.

Meh, seems like that would be a crappy hybrid.

I am a grown ass man with no wife or kids and would not be in a serious relationship with a woman who couldn't handle a pool table in my living room.

Can't defend your home with a pool ball in a sock Steven Seagal style this way, tho.

It's not a matter of affluence, more it's my house and **** the world.

That's the sort of thing LOTS of guys have said at one time in their life. Hopefully you can be the one who sticks to his principles!
