Just remember that even 420 magazine is in cahoots with some of the products. So be weary. You can buy really cheap fertilizers, but I would go with something like fox farms because there is a schedule you can follow and its just easier to use for beginners.

They're supposedly ferminized seeds.

If they are feminized then you are most likely golden. I dont know why people are saying they are most likely male seeds. You have basically a 50/50 chance of them being male or female from non-feminized seeds. Although, i do remember reading somewhere that you can influence the sex by providing a certain temperature, but it's not 100%.

if you are serious about growing then definitely go back to the dispensary and get some clones. It is soooo much easier and smarter to start with clones. They will most likely be way more stable than seeds and will guarentee to be female.

I read a book years ago by Ed Rosenthal, i think, that was really informative. Check it out.

Better prepare for the smell if you get females and they thrive.

You can get feminized seeds like someone else said.

I grew some plants like 10 years ago. Ended up killing them right before I was able to sex them and start the flowering process. Think I added too much nitrogen or something like that. Kinda half assed it though, so wasn't sure on the proper levels of everything, nutrient wise.

There is tons of good info online, you just gotta sift through bunch of crap info to find it.

Shouldn't be using any nitrogen for flowering.

You use fertilizer to grow the plant, and the fertilizers have a N-P-K ratio, which is nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. I wasn't at the flowering stage when they died on me.

Place the seeds on a wet washrag, and fold it up.

In a couple of days, the seeds will open and begin to sprout (is that the word?).

Than you can put them in soil.

I would think that offering free electricity to tenants in Colorado or any other legal marijuana state could quickly become a losing proposition

You can grow 0 plants legally under federal law. Yeah the feds probably aren't coming for you, but you gotta know it's a risk.

I'd guess there is a 0% chance the feds come after him as long he isn't trying to profit from it.

Yea you need to germinate the seeds first. Some people think you can just throw the seeds in a pot of soil and get a plant, doesn't work like that.

It's easier to buy the clones from the dispensary already planted. 3-4 month cycle for dirt. Attend to them meticulously. Don't miss watering days. Make sure ph balance is right with nutrients. Try to get an automatic timer system on lights and fans. The biggest beginning lesson will be knowing when to pull them. You will get better over time. Took about 1.5 years to get medical grade for me.

Re: electricty bill. In ca, yielding 2 pounds every 3 months is 400/mo. But CA power is ridiculously high compared to rest of country.

Surprised how bad the advice in this thread is so far. If you really want to do this properly there are a variety of different things you need to learn about including smell control, different grow mediums, light, growing techniques, nutrients, etc.

ICMag.com has tremendous forums that contain all the info you will ever need about marijuana cultivation.

put the seeds in rockwool and let the roots hang into a tub of water with a fish tank oxygen bubbler

I used to grow back when I was a kid.
If you just put it in soil and add water it's not gonna work.

This is what you need:

-Clean soil. Do not get those flower-store bags with fertilized soil - it's got chemicals your plant doesn't want.
-Bucket/something to grow in. Use something small initially, then you should re-pot the plant as it grows and put it in a bigger container - might have to re-pot more than once.
-HPS lamp. Stores that sell bongs and stuff have this kind of thing. This is a special strong lamp that radiates UV. This is essential.
-Dark, I mean completely light-isolated room. You can use a large clothing cabinet for 1-2 plants but it will require complete darkness.
-Ventilation, a floor fan will do
-Fertilizers (concentrated liquid). Read up on which are the best ones nowadays
-Watering. You need to water the plants regularly and they won't like going even a couple of days without water.
-Timer, as in one you set to automatically shut off/switch on power to your outlet (for the lamp, in flowering season)

You hatch the seeds like this: Put a moist tissue on a plate, place your seeds, put another moist tissue on top and an identical plate on top of that (so it won't dry and shuts out light). Put in a cool, dark place. Wait a couple of days, you can check but be careful. When it's open and there's this tiny sprout, it's ready for planting. Put it in your soil just half an inch or so should be covered. Give a tiny bit of water. Turn your lamp on.
You'll see a sprout/leaf within a week. The leaf should start growing close to the soil.

You should have 24/7 light until your plant is huge (2-3 months), then switch the cycle to 12/12 for flowering (this is where the light must be pitch black and uninterrupted on your night cycle). After a couple of weeks at most, you should start seeing buds starting to form. If your plant is a man, there won't be buds just small nuts and it will be next to useless. If you have a male and a female plant in the same place, kill the man immediately.

Those are the basics that I remember but yeah you should go to a growing forum.
