"Numbers stations generally broadcast artificially generated voices reading streams of numbers, words, letters (sometimes using a spelling alphabet), tunes or Morse code. They are in a wide variety of languages and the voices are usually female, although sometimes men's or children's voices are used.

Evidence supports popular assumptions that the broadcasts are used to send messages to spies."

So apparently no one really is talking much about what exactly these are and why they are still broadcasting.

Good read. I just know the Russians are up to something. From that link:

Why exactly do people think these are so freaky? If it's communication for spies, then they most likely want nothing to do with you, so let them go about their business. They seem perfectly normal to me.

I did a little bit of reading on this when Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot came out (and in the lead-up to it). The album title comes from a numbers-station sample that's used on the album (at the end of "Poor Places").

It is pretty freaky / weird / fascinating stuff. There's all sorts of **** like this out there with no real explanation.

To stop alot of people listening to it ? i dont mind the broadcast itself but combined with some of the youtbue vids it freaks me out
