Because all foods have the potential to be absolutely delicious. Unless you have an allergy to something imo you don't like it probably because you're just being closed minded and stubborn based on some preconceptions you hold for some reason or a previous negative experience.

I don't force my food preferences on others, either. I just think that by categorically refusing to eat (x) food that one might miss an opportunity to eat something enjoyable or maybe change their mind about that food.

Also it's annoying to feed people like this.

You know it's not always about the taste? Some people don't like the texture of some foods.

Sure of course. Different preparations of foods have the potential to change the texture as well as the taste. Peas mushy? Not when they're frozen.

I loooooove green olives! I don't like black ones.

Like OP, I'm pretty easy-going and will try most anything. But I dislike:

Turnips
Peas
Mayo except in tuna salad
Guacamole

And I can't stand fatty meats...steak, roast beef, whatever. It has to be very lean. Especially ham. Ham fat is the most disgusting.

what's worse: eating your least favorite food or reading a ****ing stupidass list thread that's been done 10x at least already?

Oh, I forgot mustard. Can't get near that stuff because the smell is too strong and disgusting.

But how many times must I go through the displeasure of eating something before I can finally give up and just actually enjoy the things I stick in my mouth?

Also, like I said earlier, I'm very content with the foods I eat. Even if there's something out there that I will love but I refuse to try, I'll still be very happy with my foods. There's just not much I can gain in terms of enjoyability of foods by trying things I previously didn't like.

I grew up eating not much variety, but I eat most anything these days, minus some things avoid;:

I don't intentionally order anything with mushrooms, although I'll eat them if they happen to be in something.
Canned tuna fish smells and looks vile, but a rare ahi tuna steak is one of my favorite things.
I avoid mayo for the most part, but it's fine in moderation. None of the mayo "salads" for me please.

Other than the canned tuna fish, I can't think of any food I won't eat or at least try.

And I did also realize how that sounded after I typed it, but then didn't care to change it. I don't think it applies only to foods.

The only foods I really and truly dislike in any way, shape, or form are:

*horchata (that Mexican rice drink that tastes like children's Tylenol, IMO)

*raw oysters

*over-ripened bananas

*mushy canned grapes (like the kind in the fruit cocktail)

... seriously, though, what's up with all the hate for peas? I find them very yummy, especially covered in melted butter with a bit of salt and pepper. (They have to be bright green though, not cooked until that awful dull grey-green colour.)
