A man gets involved with a woman. He does so by pretending to be someone else. Then there comes a point when he throws his fake beard away into a river.
He then gets involved with the same woman again but as his real self.
However, he ends up being prosecuted for 'the murder' of the 'bearded man'.
What film is this? It has to be a film noir. The plot is too crazy to be anything else. I watched it pre-1981.
I would be much obliged if someone could tell me what it is or direct me to a resource for discovering its title.
