There was a semi-trending twitter campaign last week to get Norm as the new Late Late Show host on CBS. Some big comedians were pushing for him, but I don't think it gained much steam. #latelatenormnorm

The Mangrate was one of Adam Carolla's original sponsors. I always wondered if their product name was picked as a tie-in with the old Man Show.

Why are you laughing? It makes a mockery out of the ManGrate.

Moshe Kasher guest hosted the Adam Carolla Show last week and he absolutely killed it. Had never heard of him before but watched his comedy special on Netflix Instant Queue that night and thought it was very good as well. He seems really intelligent and quick-witted and is a bit younger (34) than most of today's elite comics so I find him slightly more relatable. I was in a comedy mood that night so I started watching Aziz Ansari's special on Netflix immediately afterwards, and the drop off in the quality of the material was stark.

Moshe s awesome. Check out The Champs podcast he co-hosts with Nesl Brennan. Also, his episode on wtf w marc maron is a great listen. Growing up with deaf parents, living in Oakland, going to rehab fir drugs when he was like 15, etc. I liked his nf special but his style and subject matters make him not nearly accessible as someone like louis or burr.

This was a surprise. There are two Improvs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, the older one near Dallas usually has the name comics which sucks cuz it is farther away from me than the much nicer newer one in Arlington. But the newer one caters to an urban crowd and the headliners are usually comics I have never heard of and don't follow.

So I get an email from both clubs weekly listing upcoming shows and was shocked to see Bill Burr coming at the end of this month, and to Arlington at that. Sweet...just need to check with the wifey to see what night she wants to go. I saw Burr there about 4 years ago and of course he killed. Can't wait.

What's the seating capacity of the one in Arlington?

Man I don't know who Bill Burr's management team is, but they probably need changing.

he just did an hour at bobs espresso bar in San Fernando Valley (LA) which had a capacity of 45 people and there were no tickets presold you just had to come wait in line and be in the 1st 45.

I love him to death but it's absurd.
at the show I went to recently I bought tickets online a few weeks before the show and the venue said nothing about potentially having standing room only but sure enough when I showed up they had oversold and we ended up sitting on the ground for the entire show.
he also only did about 20mins (sat thru like 4-5 other comedians before he came on)

he travels ALL over the world doing hour long performances, but just trolls the **** out of his SoCal fans.
and he lives here.

Sometimes comics just want to do small shows to try out new material. I've heard of countless stories of guys just showing up at clubs and doing sets. Rewards people for showing up to shows

He's doing "small" shows all over though. There's no reason that Russel Peters should be crushing him in draw right now, beyond managemet issues.

ya and that's totally cool.

but when you promote something to a fan base of thousands of people in that area in advance so they can all wait in line for hours and only let 45 ppl in thats a significantly diff then showing up announced at a club.

I go to ton of small shows at clubs on weekdays and have had people like chris rock show up unannounced to work on some new material.

that's not even remotely similar to what I'm talking about.

haha this was awhile ago.
right after the Vick story broke.

he showed up and did a 10min rant about how he didn't give a **** about dogs and couldn't understand why ppl were mad at Vick.

didn't go over very well.

you're right, i didnt read what you wrote before as accurately as i thought. but i still see the value, from the comic's perspective, of doing a show and only having a small crowd. other than announcing it to all his fans, how else is he going to fill the seats? however they announce something ahead of time is going to reach thousands of people, i dont see it as a negative to only let in a small crowd. if its planned and marketed that way, of course. if its announced like "BIG SHOW COMING" and then you find out only the first 50 people who show up get in, thats terrible.

louie once did a show in brooklyn and only let people get tickets if they bought them ahead of time that day at the theater/bar. it was an added show, so he had a show earlier that night that sold out tickets online quickly. i got in to the later show (cause i happened to be home that day and i lived right around the corner from the venue) and he started off by saying that he did that on purpose because he wanted to do a show just for "you stupid brooklyn people who would show up at the door to get a ticket".

I'm sure he has been mentioned but Aziz Ansari is awesome. I just finished his 3 Netflix episodes. All very funny, I enjoyed the most recent one the most.

I would guess about 350-400, but they designed it nicely. There are 3 or 4 tiers of seating so even in the back you have a clear view of the stage. It's also nice to get on the email list for Arlington and Addison. I have received free tickets to tons of shows and also they occasionally email notices for special one-night-only shows and you need to buy tickets asap. Have seen George Lopez, Ron White and Jeff Dunham all within 30 feet of the stage just in the past 3-4 years.
