I really enjoyed it too. Never really paid him too much attention so I didn't know any of the backstory. Still thought it was very funny though.

I have been catching up on the Bill Burr specials then tried to insert the new Mulaney in there and it didn't work. Over the weekend picked it up and about 3/4 through and it's great. Not GOAT material but pretty damn funny.

I've always had mixed feelings about Mulaney. I like most of his jokes but his voice and delivery are usually annoying af. The latest special I feel like he was toned down a bit and overall I liked it. The Rolex watch story and the GQ interview were great.

Liked him back in the Last Comic standing days, but he has become one of my absolute favorites

I watched the Mulaney special in here after reading your thoughts.

It was entirely unfunny, and I absolutely loved it. I'll watch it again for sure.

I may have laughed out loud 3 times, and I'm an easy laugh. It was predictable, but it was so godamn HONEST. From a guy who spent his life being so dishonest.

I'm so down for this golden era of story telling after the genre started slowly bending 10 years ago. You tell me what other type of celebrity gets to be a master storyteller, opening up their souls on stage like that and covering raw and difficult subjects as depression or addiction. A singer might do that for a song, or two. This guy did a full hour or more.

I think the challenge is we're used to what these guys normally do in standup. The moment they change gears, perhaps rightfully so, they lose some people. But I love the risk taking.

Agreed, though I laughed quite a bit. It’s similar to why I think The Bird Revelation was my favorite chapellle standup.

Pete Davidson is in a local comedy club all this week. Has anyone seen him live? How was it?

that last Sarah Silverman set was really good. Not sure when that came out.

I think 2 weeks ago. She doesn’t release a ton of standup but all of her specials have been very good.

I’ve never seen him live, but let me save you some time & money…he is one of the most unfunny human beings to ever try comedy

He’s a funny dude with fairly mediocre material. But after seeing the series he did earlier this year, and the whole Ye BS, I’d go. It will at least be interesting.

I find him funny and amiable. He's not really got "material" as such. Mostly just telling stories about his life, but I enjoyed his recent specials.

Put me in the "Pete Davis is insufferable" column.

I've mentioned my favorite comics in this thread before, but it's been a while at least and some have changed. I'll mention a few:

- Shane Gillis has quickly become one of my favorites. He's got a great sketch series on YouTube and he's great on podcasts. And his Live in Austin special is absolutely the best recent special I've seen in years.

- Cumtown became my favorite podcast over the last year or so and I think those guys are just fantastic. Specifically Nick Mullen. There's not much of his standup available online, but what is there is pretty good if you don't mind really edgy stuff. Actually, that's his whole brand. Some of the stuff said on the podcast is extremely offensive. That said, some of the bits on Cumtown are just outrageously funny in my opinion. Here's a short clip for those interested:

- Mark Normand is in the same circle as Shane Gillis and he's great, too. I can't remember any of his standup at the moment, but I remember liking whatever I saw and he's great on podcasts, too.

Of course, Louis CK and Doug Stanhope, too.

Yeh can't wait for Mark Normand's new special, out next week! I listen to a ton of podcasts and he's one of the goat guests (as well as being great on his own two, Tuesdays with Stories and We Might Be Drunk), and I'll always listen to something he's on even if I have heard the same stories a bunch of times already.

Nick Mullen is probably the next Hicks/Carlin/Stanhope type who's actually capable of carrying that torch, I hope he focuses more on standup now and less on pods/shows.

Last weeks Tuesday's pod live at the Grammercy theater was one of the best podcasts this year.

Yannis tried his best to screw it up, but Dan Soder was on fire.

The herp bagging on List was one for the ages.

Mark took it up a notch as well.

I saw Jimmy Carr live a few weeks back. Huge arena and he is absolutely printing $$ but it was still vg and I was happy I went

Shoutout to Cumtown! You should check out ClangersTV youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ClangersTV

He cuts together mostly bits where they talk about movies with the scenes and does a phenomenal job of editing. It's how I originally got into the podcast. Nick Mullen's reviews are great.

STRONG compliment and I totally agree. His intelligence and comedic instincts are phenomenal. Hopefully he finds a way to keep his mental health in check to some degree, but then again, a bit of whackiness seems to go hand in hand with brilliance.

Looks like I've watched a bunch of these - probably from YT's"Recommended Videos," but actually looking through this channel is pretty nice.

I didn't love the new Normand set. Dunno why.

I did like the new darker Gaffigan, which is apparently an unpopular take?
