movies sometimes come out in england about 4-5 months later than in the USA, so i always take great pleasure when we get one a week early.

there will be spoilers in this thread (no need to use tags), so stop reading now if you don't want to see any.

anyway, it's 7.5/10, same old, fun, end action scene dragged but the rest moved at a nice pace. i wasn't LOVING it but i could certainly have watched another hour of it. vin diesel somewhat takes a back seat, whilst the rock and black guy provided a lot of laughs. dialogue was weaker than usual. it contained the most unrealistic stunt i can remember seeing in a movie.

it also unashamedly sets up the sequel, which is no surprise given they're attempting (successfully) to move this past a 'car film' into a yearly action franchise (7 is out next summer).

in conclusion, about as good as 4, maybe a little better (although i loved a lot of the cheesy homages to the original in that). worse than 1 and 5. now looking forward to the carolla/simmons podcast.

I stopped watching these after 2 fast 2 furious. It's the same freaking movie every time basically. I'll wait for it to be on cable...maybe.

And seriously, 6? Did hollywood really need to make 5 more sequels after the original? I understand maybe one sequel because the original was so popular. but c'mon, we're at number 6 now? When do these start going straight to dvd? Is there a 7th planned? lol

Get some original stuff made Hollywood!!!!

It's not that hard, they'll keep making them as long as they're making money. Wouldn't be surprised if they do some sort of prequel to the first one after this.

5 was a big save for the franchise, if this continues in the same vein it will be an entertaining 90 minutes.

I laughed so hard during Fast 5 my date almost left

Vin Diesel's role in that movie: Say nothing and just stand still in silence for 15 seconds trying to look like a badass.

Will def see this one

And to think that they'd cap it at #5. Now they're bringing characters back from the dead?

I'm gonna turn on the hipster for this one.

Fast Five overtook Roadhouse for my all-time favorite bad movie. You simply have to sit down and watch it. The wanton disrespect for the laws of physics are astonishing. The part where the Rock was about to get shot, man, it got a little dusty in my basement. And the reveal at the end...crushing. I cannot wait for Friday to get here to check out Fast 6.

I love how this ****ty franchise was dumped on Justin Lin, attempting to mark him for Hollywood dead-end so early in his directing career, but instead he trolled everyone and turned it into a moneymaking machine.

Check out his early independent feature Better Luck Tomorrow to see just how hard he leveled the producers who were all set to shelve the franchise (and Lin's prospects) when they last-minute opted for him to helm Tokyo Drift. Guy crafted a cheese-fest guilty pleasure and churned it into a massive profit and a string of sequels.

Sure, he's producing garbage, but you know he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Can't wait to see it, this is the most excited I have been about a movie in years. Do you guys think it's necessary to see the previous five films before going to this, or should I be able to fill in the blanks myself?

Never seen one of these in a theater, is it pretty much all 17-30 yo males? Or does it somehow pull a broader demographic?

I'll watch it if someone asks me, otherwise I'll catch it online

I saw this movie today and thought it was really good. Bringing the Rock in on this franchise was a stroke of genius, definitely recommend it.

Have never seen any of the franchise, does it matter much which order I see them in?

If you've seen Point Break you've seen the first one. Just imagine them racing cars instead of jumping out of planes.

Saw this and it was actually pretty good. The end dragged on way too long with a 128 mile runway when they could have set it up perfectly for the 7th one but whatever.

When it started I yelled HEY PAUL WALKER, CLICK IT OR TICKET.

Nobody laughed.

Seriously, saw this last night and loved it. Probably not a good movie, but very very entertaining. Liked it at least as much as 5, but nothing will ever come close to the original.

Wasn't a big fan of most of the cars in this one though (GT-Rs were nice), that was the one area that missed for me.

so happy to hear someone say this!

5 was extremely entertaining and had a lot more going on, but for quotability and the 'i stumbled upon this while channel hopping and now i must watch the entire thing' factor, 1 is simply incredible.
