Subject line pretty much says it. Tried to log in sometime beginning of January. Got a message saying that my account was disabled. Reason given was fake name.

Went through the proper channels, assured them that I'm using my real name, was willing to provide any proof they asked for. Got an auto-reply e-mail that I had to reply to and confirm my real name, which I did. It said not to keep e-mailing because it's put in a queue and may take a while to get to.

Fair enough. I wait a week, week and a half, 2 weeks, no reply. I try again. No reply. 3 weeks, no reply.

Now we're 2 months in with about 6 or 7 attempts to contact support and e-mail them with no reply.

I've even begun to consider that they're right. I asked my mother, but she confirms that the name I believe to be mine is indeed my real name. I thought maybe I was in the 2nd or 3rd level of some Inception type deal and have to jump off a building to wake up.

Funny thing was at first I didn't really care. Figured they'd reply, realize their mistake, and either open my account again or not. I don't even really use it that much. Mostly for news and information (PPA, pokerstars, bands, venues, etc...), but the point that they just ignore every attempt, not even a single response, has really aggravated me.

What's my next move? How about a lawsuit for mental anguish, emotional distress, and distorting my sense of reality cause now I gotta tell people I'm fake when they want to facebook me. Just kidding.....maybe.

Sorry, nothing interesting or odd about my name. Fairly common first name, Italian last name, ends in a vowel. Not sure how creative you can be with that.

This is true and if the reason for the banning had been: You're an a-hole, we don't like you, then that's fine cause I can't prove differently. But the You're fake thing is pretty easy to prove. It's a principle thing at this point.

This happened to someone I vaguely know. She had been using a nickname (shortened version of her real name, nothing weird) and had some fancy characters at the end. Facebook locked her out and told her she needed to enter her real name. She tried the nickname without the characters, then her real name with the special characters, but it wouldn't accept either of those. Then she entered her full name without the extra crap and it accepted her. Sounded super weird to me.

Huge spoiler here: Ya know, I thought of that, but after a year and a half I didn't think they were stupid enough to suddenly, out of nowhere, nitpick Matt vs Matthew. This can't be what they spend their time looking for. And if they are that dumb, then they can go eff themselves. The only places I have my full name are my driver's license and my birth certificate.
