I don't think carrots are a large cause of cavities at all (only like 3g of sugar and not much starch).

I think Vantek is actually right, crisp fruits and vegetables do seem to cleanse the mouth to some degree. Though snacking on apples throughout the day could be risky, especially for someone who is cavity prone. Better to have fruit with meals, rather than a snack.

Carrots are fine, they are good for your teeth because the chewing action cleans your teeth because it makes thingsmove, like when you chew gum

I'm telling you!

You know, I guess it must be the plants + chewing gum combo action rather than the plants alone. Plants make it so that there is nothing insoluble left in your mouth, and the chewing gum will cause salivation to flush away everything that is soluble (sugars) and neutralise all possible acids (this is actual true effect not just flashy advertisement nonsense).

ughh. Human saliva breaks down starches, not sugars. It also doesn't "wash away" sugar. This is why humans get cavities and brush their teeth. Unless you're eating basic foods there's also nothing "neutralizing" your acids.

Why not?

Sugar is soluble you know.

Chewing gum contains piss substance urea. This breaks down into ammonia, which is basic.

I think Saliva is what remineralizes your teeth after eating and works to restore your mouth to it's normal PH level. At least that's what I've read before, and it's why chewing gum (sugar free) is usually touted as beneficial to teeth (increased saliva).
