I don't like music.

I don't dislike it. Its not a problem when I hear it, but honestly, I am completely uninterested and unentertained by music.

I know of various artists and songs and of course, have enough of a basic knowledge to get by if a conversation comes up (its fairly easy to bat it aside by just bashfully telling the group that you're a complete philistine and that "heh, 'fraid I've got no rhythm! Wish I did but I'm afraid musical talent just ain't something I'm blessed with" (or some other modest kind of deflection)).

But yeah. Sitting at home, walking to work, doing whatever, I just ain't arsed about seeking out and listening to music.

Anyone else relate at all?

When I'm pissed I do like some songs and when I'm at the gym or whatever they help me endure the strain and pain etc. by having something else to concentrate on, but aside from that, not really.

Like, as an example. I don't have an Itunes account and whenever I do want to listen to something, I'll use YouTube.

I'm not sure what using youtube over iTunes is supposed to signify apart from not being willing to pay for music. Plenty of people who love music prefer not to pay for it.

What about film music? Do film scores do anything for you? Do you feel they add to the emotion of the scenes?

Most of the mainstream music today is not very good. All the older classics i've heard a million times, so the result is i usually listen to talk radio or podcasts.

This is a growing trend among young people, you're not a special snowflake.

I really doubt you've heard all the older classics a million times.

It's hard to keep an accurate count of how many times you've heard a Steve Miller song when every time it happens you want to chop off your own ears.

I mean if music stopped being produced right now I could easily entertain myself exploring what's out there for the rest of my life. Every time I make a conscious effort to investigate a certain genre or artist I uncover amazing music.

I don't enjoy reading for pleasure I'm afraid. I know its a useful intellectual pursuit but its just never been enjoyable for me.

I enjoy cartoons though and love the likes of South Park and The Simpsons. I'm a big fan of comedy in general.

Music though...eh?...meh? I'm just indifferent to it. I mean I'm sat here in silence at the moment and yeah, just don't have a music collection anyway.
