I agree somewhat with this.
He's not a great writer, but the stories in the first two books are a little better than the tv show, but the characters development in the books is terrible compared to the tv series.
The 3rd book goes off in a direction I didn't expect. It reads like a highschooler trying to be Stephen King.
The tv show is great. The acting/writing/directing is near perfect.
