Dexter 11/11 Dexter 11/11

Looked pretty good. You know Lila cant stay but shes really fighting and you can see a lot of confusion in Dexter.

I think it was awesome but a huge mistake what he did to Doakes. W/ Doakes in the office and not incredibly pissed he can watch him better. Thoughts on that?

I missed the first 5 min of the episode. What was the lightbulb comment at the end in reference too?

I think it was a huge mistake with Doakes. Now he has an angry Doakes seeking retribution against him. Lila is obviously crazy. And LOTS of naked Lila is A+++ in my book.

Also, could this all be setting up for Deb to figure out who/what Dexter is? Now that she is so "intimate" with the investigation and all.

Sometimes truth comes from a peaceful place...

Doakes is angry and crazy. Angry and crazy enough to be the Bay Harbor Butcher? Hmmm...

Lila's wiring/light bulb wasn't working and the landlord wasn't doing anything about it so she broke the landlords light forcing it to get fixed.

How many people have read the second book and know where this is heading? I really like how open this season is right now and what direction it can go in. I think they've done an excellent job so far.

I thought that that was what it was in reference to, however, it seemed like it had an eerie feeling when he looked at the light fixed, and I felt like I missed something, or it had more meaning.

I think it was symbolic of her manipulating things to always get what she wants. Perhaps he suspects that she's up to no good.

It was just a reference to how she's willing to go to destructive lengths to manipulate people into giving her what she wants. The lightbulb, now the fire, etc.

EDIT: Yeah, what the guy before me said.

He's suspicious now because her way of getting what she wants is through destruction. He makes reference to her being good at getting what she desires when they are at dinner. Lila feels like she is losing him, so she does what comes natural to keep Dexter close and make sure he stays there.

The feeling you're getting is him realizing that she gets what she wants and he is worried that she is manipulating him in some way. (imo)

edit: like 5 ppl beat me

I think it just got to me because Dexter had "that look" of like "oh [censored] what have I gotten into, whats she up to" etc.

Weird feeling

iirc the 2nd season does not follow the book at all (or as close as the 1st season).

What was up with the light at the end of the episode? What did it mean? Why was Dex all like "WTF"?

I was 4 tabling and I didn't catch everything in the episode so I was a little confused at that part.

Did anyone else think that she might not be a meth addict at all and that she was just in rehab for pyromania the way Dexter was for serial killing? That's the way I interpreted the end of the episode anyway.

This season's still been good for the most part, but I do feel like they're getting a little too far off-track with Dexter's character. The way he lied to Doakes and then head-butted him was just stupid. Just because he's being more impulsive in some constructive ways doesn't mean he should lose his ability to reason.

I think you're right on. She liked watching that fire a little too much. Seemed sensual/sexual to her.

Hey guys, why did dexter look at the light at the end of the episode, I mean, what was that all about? who grunches a 15ish post thread for god's sake

Good episode, I liked it a lot. I think the odds are pretty high that he gets back together with rita after he figures out the topless chick is messing with him (if he hasn't figured it out already).

Dexter is going to frame Doakes for the Bay Harbor Butcher murders. Police background, private person, neat and tidy, shot 2 people in the past 6 months, going crazy by following and attacking Dexter. I have a feeling Doakes will keep harrassing Dexter so much that Dexter gets really pissed and will want to eliminate him, but not kill him. So he will plant some evidence and Sgt. Doakes will go down as the Bay Harbor Butcher. Does the Sgt. have a boat?

after watching the episode again, it's obvious lila is a mess. She uses destructive means to get what she wants. She broke the lightbulb to get it replaced. At dinner, Dexter said "I dont know how you do it, and shes like what, and hes get whatever the hell you want" Then dexter didn't answer his phone when he was at Cody's presentation, so she freakin burnt her place down. I wonder if shes going to live with Dexter for a little? The thing with Doakes has me worried. Especially because LaGuerta says "leave of absence until internal affairs investigation" or whatever so I think a bunch of [censored] is going to come out about Dexter's past, etc.

I think Dexter's trying to make it so if they find anything, it'll look like Doakes is trying to frame him.

Wasn't paying attention the first time (lol donkaments) and rewatched it. The very first scene clearly illustrates the theme for the rest of the episode. Lyla telling Dexter what to do while having sex with her than after they finish this conversation happens.
Dexter: You really know what you want don't you
Lyla: If you don't mind some men do.

Interesting. That does make a little more sense than my crazy theory! I think you might be right. I'm anxious to see what happens between Doakes and Dexter.

On the "Lyla is a pyro" chain of thought:

What if she has killed people in the past by arson? Would Dexter then kill her?

She has. She told Dexter on the car ride to Naples that she killed her ex bf dealer or whatever w/ fire and knew that was when she hit rock bottom and entered the program.
