One of the most uncomfortable things one can witness is a male crying frivolously. Lets discuss/establish some general rules on male crying.

Personally, i can only see crying if someone dies or while watching a movie and i try to follow some general rules: tears good, sound bad, other than laughter/smiling which is used to avoid the most uncomfortable part of male crying: a quivering lip.

And no rules on death crying in my opinion, so long as they weren't olds who died in their sleep. **** can be pretty terrible and you need to cry.

Someone you know dying and....watching a movie....

Sounds like you have a really wide crying range.

im not super emotional but no movie has ever made me cry.

last time was probably when my cat died 2 yrs ago. even then tho unless its sudden, which is wasnt for me, you can see it coming and i got over it pretty quick.

I bet we can name a thousand things that are more uncomfortable. I'll start.

Being in the exam room with my mother-in-law because no one else was available.

I don't generally judge people for crying, it's uncomfortable but you gotta let it out. When I was a kid the crying kid would get messed with and when I cried and I got messed with that always lead to a fight. I say just crying is much more healthier then being turned into a violent rage monkey like I did.

My culture, east coast of the US, had a very low emotional intelligence when i was growing up. Crying on an emotional level is just like defecating or urinating, you gotta let the old baggage out.

I've never cried, but if I did I would mitigate things by flexing my biceps.

I remember my grandfather crying as 9/11 was happening and on some level thinking: what a ***. But i was a young moron at the time. Of course it's acceptable to cry during 9/11.

ha, your assumptions and expectations in this thread are a bit worrisome. But keep it up. It makes for interesting reading.

I couldn't help but silently cry in the theatre at the end of 12 Years a Slave when Solomon reunites with his family. Or the end of Saving Private Ryan. I'd say there are numerous movies that apply.

Plenty of other circumstances are reasonable. Wouldn't say I necessarily follow exact rules but my crying does seem to align with OP's theories.

It’s almost like teenage boys don’t really show any emotion, which I think explains why I didn’t at least shed a tear during 9/11. I remember hearing a terrible accident in front of my house one night. A drunk driver pulled in front of a mini van full of kids and dogs. The dads face caved in by the steering wheel. Kids and dogs crying. It was ****ing terrible. And like a little sociopath, I went inside and slept like a baby.

I think I depends on whatever your own personal issues are. Any movie with a son making a father proud (ex. Rudy) get me every time. Certain romantic comedy can get me to shed tears too.

I think the last time I actually cried about real life **** was when my grandmother died around 20 years ago. Tear up a bit if I'm watching the right movie/show, but generally a bit stunted emotionally when it comes to real life.

This probably means I'm ****ed in the head or something, but hey ho
