Mrage,

PM me your email and I'll send you a referral.

Thanks for the discover heads up. That's great and it stacks with everything apparently.

Effectively this makes the "it" 2% on general spend, 10% on bonus spend, and doubles Discover Deals promos (that could be really juicy!)

In addition, Discover has been doing soft pull credit line increases lately. I've gotten one every 16 days for a few turns and my line has grown to 4k from 1.5k.

Pretty strong! I called in to get signed up, took 5 minutes.
do you have to call for this? who is eligible?

Looks like current cardholders as well as new apps, but I would enroll ASAP in case they change their minds on the former... I don't see that explicitly stated on their site.

Here's a pretty thorough link about it - http://www.doctorofcredit.com/discov...-2-everywhere/

edit: forgot to mention, live chat works, but I wound up calling because live chat was busy (no surprise there, considering.)

edit 2: If the Discover Deals doubling holds up, you can really get some deep discounts at Sears. Sears usually runs 10% cash back at Discover Deals. You can buy physical gift cards and get the 10%. Then, use said gift cards to pay for items, again going through Discover Deals (the portal doesn't care what payment method is used.) So, you wind up with 20% CB, which is then effectively doubled to 40%. Additionally, whatever method you use to pay for the physical GC would earn rewards. Certainly worth keeping in mind for largish purchases; I know I will be.

Working on it over the chat feature on their website. It doesn't seem that there is any difference between my Discover More card and the Discover IT card outside of a few design features for cards.

That has no appeal to me (who cares what my card looks like)...

It is in their features for new customers but it is not directly offered or implied to be offered to existing customers.

Edit: This promotion is active on my account starting with my new billing cycle and for the next 12 months.

Am I the only one that gets spammed by credit sesame multiple times a day? I finally got unlazy and moved it into gmail promotions since that's effectively what it is, so that will stop the push notifications at least. I hate unsubscribing completely from email lists I may find value in at some point.

My app for the Freedom was denied for two many apps in the last 24 months (8 in two years, one app in last 6 months) and reconsideration line wouldn't even listen when I offered to shift credit from another line or close a card...

I have two Chase cards ( a United and a BA) that I was planning on closing when the annual fees came around in a few months. Opened both cards last year.

My questions are: (a) how much, if any, marginal value would I get from keeping the cards for another few months instead of just tilt closing them now? (b) is the answer to the first question different if I put spend on the cards instead of just sticking them in a sock drawer? (C) how carefully do I have to handle the cancellation process to make sure that I can get some more Chase cards in the future?

Where can I find out if I have a sign up bonus offer for Discover?

That double rewards for a year deal is too sick to pass up.

I had the same experience. First recon guy was a smartass about it. He told me it was denied for too many accounts in 24 months. I asked him if there was any way the application could be reconsidered. "Well, there's no way to go back and not open as many accounts."

Second call to recon a sweet sounding young lady picked up, she was more sympathetic but got nowhere with her either. Lame.

Did they give you the number of recent applications/inquiries? Are you saying 8 in the last 2 years based on what Chase said, or what your report said or what? What bureau did Chase pull for you?

discover it is giving out soft pull CLIs apparently. I was able to get +$1500 for free to my limit. worth checking out, it can all be done online through their website. it will tell you in advance if a hard pull is required.

also apparently you can get your discover cashback doubled for a full year (including 5% bonus categories which become 10%). Targeted offer but I think you need to do a chat to determine if eligible. I'm going to try later today and will report back.

Your pony is very slow, but it is worth repeating

@JL, they didn't give me specific numbers. I did just add 3 accounts in April, my AAoA is 8 months and oldest account 1/14 though. So I can't really be mad at them, it's more of a reality check for me. I'm going to wait on the letter and try recon one last time, maybe I'll get lucky. Edit: Much to my chagrin, they pulled both EX and EQ. Why they needed a second report that is identical to the first only to tell me too many new accounts is beyond me.

I need to let my accounts age for a while. I have a truck due for a second timing belt replacement and tires very soon and I have to decide whether to sell it and get something else in the fall, or do the maintenance and commit to keeping it another 100k miles. But really, even if I decide to keep it, I should be ready to buy a vehicle at any given time since it could die of old age, lol. The Freedom was to be the last card I added before chilling out for a long while. Moving forward I would like to get all my FICO 08 scores to above 760, and get my AAoA to over a year and keep it there. I sure wish Amex still backdated new cards, sigh.
