The delayed and chaotic testing in the United States will cost lives, potentially including those of doctors and nurses, many medical experts predict. Already more than 100 people have died overall, and fears of rampant spread have led to extraordinary restrictions on social interaction, upending the U.S. economy, schools, hospitals and everyday life.

“It makes me feel like I’m living in a farce,” said Dr. Ritu Thamman, a cardiologist and clinical assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Even hospital staff who may have been exposed can’t get a test, she said. “We are a rich country but we don’t have these kinds of things?”

Was pulled in for a meeting on what my site has planned an hour ago. Boss said they have been talking to government officials and they can't just shut the site down. As of today it's business as usual. If it gets worse they have a plan B to run a skeleton crew, send most home with full pay, and idle the plant. I anticipate us shutting down Monday as much as we safely can and then going home for at the least 30 days.

Still a ton of rice at the Chinese Market! Ain't nobody going in there!

Our Governor has mentioned that they've discussed using the state university dorms for extra hospital beds. That austere environment seems like it'd make for a good backup should need be.

Things seem to be picking up a bit of steam here in Michigan, though we're only at 80 confirmed cases and 1 death (today) iirc. I've been trying to guess when the lockdown/shelter in place is going to hit and I think my original guess of about 10 days from now was too optimistic.

I do think our governor enjoyed flexing a bit when she first imposed restrictions after being neutered for her first two years by a Republican legislature. I can see her going big and going early.

****, better hit the store again soon.

110 now. I own a small business and am lucky to still be working. Although it’s weird because we all drive to the job site separately stay 30ft apart from one another, use own tools, only packed lunches. Then after 8 hours we all just pack up our **** and leave. I don’t think I’m being irresponsible but who knows. All employees are working on a volunteer basis. I can’t imagine a scenario where we can go back to work on Monday so I’m trying to get as much cash in these guys pockets as possible.

If I order pizza, any sense blasting it at 300 in the oven for a couple minutes before eating?

Just leave the pizza sitting out for a few days before eating it.

You'll also need to baste it with Purell, and make sure you're wearing a face mask when eating it.

I had too do some shopping today at a local supermarket.

Thought it would be fairly empty and full of people respectfully keeping apart from each other.

Nah, it was rammed, no one giving a **** and three times someone coughed like no big deal whilst walking past me.

Luckily we have a supermarket that is still open 24 hours and does a restock at 11pm, so am going shopping at midnight from now on.

Im not stocking up yet because supply shortages wont actually happen for another 2 weeks according my friend who works in logistics for said supermarket.

Funny thing is it's not hard to imagine how this might work but it's almost impossible to say you that could get the required number of people to do it outside of autocracies. How many have to die before pride is finally sacrificed for the greater good?

lol I was thinking the same thing; but only out of worry about the card box. So I was thinking when I get the Pizza, I put the box with the Pizza into the pre-heated oven for a while and wash my hands. Still have to research time & temperature. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can get it from the Pizza itself though; just putting it on a plate and then wash your hands should be fine. I'm too lazy for that though, and love to eat my Pizza out of the Box.

Totally serious, how do think you can't get it from the pizza if someone coughed or sneezed on it, or had it on hands and touched the pizza a little while cutting it?

Burn point of a cardboard pizza box should be around 450 fahrenheit.
