Super Bowl is right up there with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Maybe more so.

I see what you mean, but I'll take the under on Super Bowl activity. There's a significant swath of the country that DGAF about the Super Bowl (a swath that has little representation on 2+2), whereas thanksgiving is a lot closer to universal. Also it's very rare to travel for SB parties, so there's that.

Personally, I don't know anyone having a super bowl party, but all my friends are liberal coastal elites, so I recognize its definitely not a representative sample.

I'll be at a 6-person gathering where 2 have had covid and one got vaccinated a month ago (just first shot). The other 2 are pretty paranoid, and there will be air movement. Don't feel great about it but staying home watching the Chiefs is too depressing.

Just had a dream I had covid. I had a few contractors over this week for water damage and 2 of 4 of them half-sneered when I mentioned leaving doors open or talking outside for covid. That causes double alarm bells cuz I know these guys dgaf and are more likely to have it. What sucks is the water damage was in the laundry room which is a tight space. So far so good (no symptoms in real life) but keeping fingers crossed for another few days.

Oh ya I also had to get an eye exam last weekend cuz I am out of contacts and my glasses are falling apart. I made it this whole pandemic but completely out of contacts. That visit actually wasn't as bad as I thought on the covid side of things

At what point do we say "if people haven't figured out by now that gathering inside with other people in close proximity for an extended period of time is how covid spreads, then **** them and they deserve it if they get it"?

I mean, if anyone hasn't figured it out a year in, after the holiday surges, they're never going to figure it out. This isn't ****ing rocket science.

If they had the vaccine a month ago, why have they only had the first shot?

CNN was saying last night that the governor of Iowa is removing all restrictions related to COVID.

I wasn't listening closely, but I think the allegation was that, "we're getting people vaccinated, so it's all good now."

Stock up on your corn and bacon now. GG Iowegians.

At this point I assume everyone acting like this has already had it.

I'm a little over 2 weeks past Shot 1 and keep having to tell myself it doesn't mean anything, don't do that, just be patient and cautious for 4 more weeks. It's a struggle not to give in too soon.

With the unknown efficacy against the various variants out there, you should be cautious until booster shots are made and given out

Mostly disagree. I'll still do the cautious stuff that's easy, like wearing an N95, but I think having the vaccine moves my risk down to an acceptable level and my life will mostly be back to normal. Engineering my life to minimize my risk of covid at all costs isn't the goal, and never was. Most people I talk to feel the same way.
