Wat? Is this for actually chatting with friends. People really have 8+ friends and ones they want to chat with a at once. That sounds like a cringing beat down.

It's good. Can't go to pub or house parties. Or watch sports. But 8-max isn't ideal.

I work at a military site. We were all there business as usual but I have to say you could feel the tension in the air. People are stressed out bad. I'm not going back after today. My boss wants me to go in tomorrow and Monday and I told him I'm not coming in. Normally this is a wonderful place to work. Everybody is getting paid a great salary or hourly pay and they are happy. Lots of joking and smiles. Not today. It was quiet. A little bit of joking but def some steady tension. It's coming guys.

My sister is a nurse practitioner in a private practice in NYC, and they laid off all their office staff today because none of their patients have been coming in for the past few weeks and their cash flow dropped to essentially zero. The economic devastation is going to be just incredible

I've been working mostly from home the last few years. I tend to start work when I would normally leave for my commute and take a shorter lunch. So that's at least an hour more a day plus less conversation/distraction at the office.

Throw in taking my dog to the park at lunch in the winter (when there wouldn't be time to take him before or after work because of daylight hours), being able to do a load of laundry, etc and it's super efficient.

The only downside is that it's hard for me to distinguish work hours from personal hours. If my phone rings outside of work hours, I almost always pick it up, which means I work even more than I should.

On Feb 29th I backed out of my condo deal in Key West and decided to hunker down and quarantine myself w/o the plague rather than wait for someone else to quarantine me with the plague. I had a doctor appointment Mar 4 so I set that as my last day out. Filled up a Walmart cart 5 days in a row, bout $1500. I broke quarantine today as I figured my last chance for some fresh food, plus I got all healthy **** and wanted some junk food and more vitamin C.

The store was surreal, but I really didn't feel funny until standing in line, not even a big line, 1 person in front of me, 1 behind. That's enough for me, no more leaving the house. See you again sometime in 2021 world, hopefully.

also, I went into a small local place. I drove through the Walmart parking lot just to look. I wouldn't have gone in there for $10,000

If this site is abandoned we could very easily have an environmental problem. I'm talking decades to clean up. We can idle it but we can't leave it. Honestly I can't say much more but I imagine there are more important sites all over the country.

They are offering tons of money right now to people that are willing to stay there 24/7 indefinitely. I've got kids and I can't leave them alone indefinitely so I'm not even considering it.

Sorry if I'm derailing this thread with a my personal story & some symptom questions. I just wanted to see if anybody on here have had similar issues. I'm too scare to go to a Clinic/Hospital in the middle of this pandemic and am in the middle of no insurance. I do have Obama care and my apply for Cobra by the end of this month.

I'm a care giver for both my patents living in the same condo unfortunately because of finance reasons for all three of us.

Mother: 70 years old has COPD, asthma and bad season allergies.
Father: 70 years old has been through 4/5 blood vassal aneurysm surgeries of heart/leg and just finish his last bout of Chemo/Radiation for curable cell lung cancer.
Me: 40 years old borderline obese with a very bad diet and limit exercise.

I've been home for over 2.5 weeks only going to the stores once/twice a week. I started developing a slight sore throat about 2 weeks after my last social outing. It's turned into a bad case of post nasal drip now. I'm Keep having to clear my throat. I feel like I'm getting a fever, but temperature is always fine. I've been having slight shivers that don't last long like 1.5 hours some nights, but seem to be recurring every few days.

My Mother has been very sluggish and been having stomach issues now. Her doctors gave her some steroids/prednisone on Monday which seem to help a bit, but maybe have contribute to her stomach issues now.

My Father is having a bit of dry cough, but has been good condition other than that.

None of us are breaking out into a fever or cold yet. I'm still getting worry and will be pushing all three of us to a drive thru corona virus site that open up nearby.

Anybody been experiencing this symptoms themselves?

It's just weird that all three of developing all these different symptoms, but not any onset of a fever/cold/flu etc yet.

Everyone is so jelly of remote work until they actually do it. I always take the time to correct recruiters and companies that claim remote work is a benefit. "Will you work for less money because you are saving on gas?" Uh, no, I need more money to work remotely, thx.
This is now the 3rd time I've worked from home for a major corporation (or in this case university). Also I played online poker for 3 years.

Some tips:
  1. Make a workspace that only has work. Block websites on your computer if you have to. No distractions. Your brain will eventually adjust to realize that when I'm sitting in this seat I'm working.
  2. Make sure your schedule is regular. For some of us that means some kind of morning daily meeting. If not find some way (although my old method of workout classes at 9am aint gonna work anymore).
  3. Take a shower every day. Sounds simple but it's easy to slip out of.
  4. Get some exercise. Sucks right now, but that might mean just walking. I have an exercise bike.
  5. Try to imagine you're face to face with your coworkers and act accordingly. It's easy to get frustrated and slip into voice or email mode where you're a lot more edgy.

That's all I got. Stuff like keep the fridge stocked with healthy food and avoid takeout kinda goes without saying right now.

in times like these im kinda glad i have a job that won't shut down. Seeing all these people out of work is crazy. Already 6 of my family members are not working between uncles and aunts brothers and sister. Its crazy to believe that this could go on til july or august. I'm starting to think the economic impact of this will be much more severe than the lives lost.

Thats where I think testing should be urgent. That's a lot of police off the streets. Normally I wouldn't care.

Yeah I'm lucky to work for the public sector and I'm 99% sure my job is safe. I fully expect to be helping friends or family members out financially at some point during this.

If the govt sends me any money I'm going to give it to the woman at the laundromat who does my fluff and fold. She has two kids and the money will go to good use.

Thanks. I figured you were in a personal bind, but really couldn't share much here. I had no idea what type of work you were in, but at least you have eased my fears of imminent martial law a bit. For now.

Best wishes to you and your family!

I'm no physician, so take with a grain of salt:
From what I've read, fever is the key symptom to look for, so you all have that going for you. I have read and heard that a cough that is productive such as clearing your throat or due to post-nasal drip is of no concern. The cough to look out for is a dry cough from the area of the sternum or breastbone. Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath is the third key symptom.

I'm having some recent throat clearing type of cough and a little trouble breathing, but I'm pretty sure that is due to seasonal allergies that I haven't paid this much attention to in prior years. Hopefully, that is what is going on with you guys also.

Good luck to you guys--and I hope you're not very suggestible. Again, I'm no physician, so educate yourself about this stuff as much as you can.

I saw somewhere that like 40 to 50% of people reported early digestion/diarrhea problems.
