captain you're really generalizing the unvaxxed population. The spectrum is way wider than mentally ill and poor. That 30% is filled with very successful pillars of the community as well. And religious people. And very smart people. And it's not some little sliver.

Military committed early not to make it mandatory until fully FDA approved (as opposed to authorized under emergency). Very afraid of a second fiasco like the anthrax vaccine rollout. As soon as its fully approved, it will likely be mandatory the next day.

Has anyone read or seen anything lately about a timeline for approval to start giving kids <12 the vaccine? With school starting soon it's insane to me that that hasn't been the number one priority, not only for their safety, but that it would instantly (well, not INSTANTLY) add tens of millions more people to the total number vaccinated.

Last I heard was that they're still in trials which seems crazy, considering that they could have (should have?) been doing those trials months ago.

1. more people getting vaccinated

2. Boosters will start to be given out by then

3. but mainly that it's going to spread so fast that it will make its way through the population by then.

No predictions for how it will effect the long term picture of the pandemic, but ironically a highly contagious variant of Covid could be a blessing in disguise, in that it could unintentionally get us to herd immunity. Obviously it'll be a bloodbath in the meantime and it will bring our healthcare system crashing down too.

Can you imagine if the original strain of Covid had been the Delta variant? There would have been no denying it, and more people would have quarantined, worn masks, etc. and would have gotten vaccinated when it was available. It's strange how Covid owes its longevity to its "mildness".

the covid isnt going away just like the flu. if enough get the vax it will become a minor thing. but that isnt going to happen. it will continue to return as the vax wears off and the worlds population isnt going to get enough herd immunity to effect it. and travel between countries will keep spreading it.

those countries that get close to completely populated will get back to normal. the others will have to accept a larger number of hospitalizations and deaths.
