I use Kodi for VoD and that's about it that I know of. Might do sling for the redzone during NFL season tho.
I wanted to point out that this article is relevant to just about everyone ITT: The Truth About Faster Internet: It's Not Worth It

I cut my speeds in half (from 150 MBps --> 75 MBps), saved $20/month and have noticed little if any discernible difference. (Streaming stuff is by far the most bandwidth-intensive thing I do.)

Dealbreaker for me if that is the status quo.

I dunno but I am noticing tonight that the volume on the YTV served ads is about twice as loud which is annoying af

In case (ha!) anyone was planning on switching to PS-Vue (or had already) I regret to inform you that Sony Entertainment is cancelling the service as of Jan 30, 2020.

Which is total BS, imo. Guess I need to review this thread more for my next "solution".

Anyone try Philo? I want to watch the next season of Better Call Saul week-by-week and don't have much additional interest in cable, and it seems like maybe the cheapest cable streaming service out there. I guess I could also probably buy the season via amazon.

Ha, didn't know this was a thread.

Even though I'm probably the last person to ever try to do this, I will put this here as a public service:

We recently became aware that AT&T Fiber is available in our neighborhood. Up until now, Comcast Cable has been the only realistic option and the performance had been pretty bad. Don't want to turn this into a commercial for AT&T but the difference is night and day.

As pertains to this thread, though, I signed up for Disney+ mostly to watch The Mandalorian and bought the bundle since it had ESPN+ and hulu for a slightly reduced rate. The problem is if you want hulu Live TV, you have to get that before you sign up for the Disney+ bundle, otherwise you are stuck with basic hulu.

If you want to subsequently add hulu Live TV, you have to cancel the Disney+ bundle, wait until the end of the billing cycle, upgrade to hulu Live TV, and then re-buy the Disney+ bundle. Nice!

Cut the Comcast cord today.
Added YouTubeTV.
Already had Netflix, Amazon Prime and Peacock.
Saving $60/mo.

Going on about 4 years since I discovered IPTV and Plex shares. I've saved my $200/month Directv bill and whatever Netflix is charging now and spending only about $30 a month and getting EVERYTHING(all sports packages and PPVs and every show and movie on demand from the Plex shares) Cord Cutters Unite - Let's Talk Modern Television

Roughly $3/month for basic if you sign up through a cheap country like Turkey. $6/month for premium.

Bump

Are people still cord cutting with the prices of streaming apps on the rise?

Haven't had cable in 3 years. Fubo emulates it almost exactly for much less money, ime.

I could never use Fubo. The name is too dumb. I have Hulu.

The alternative is not to stay with a cable provider but to also not do streaming.

Outside sports there's basically nothing interesting to watch on TV anymore.

I had a rooftop antenna installed and they connected to the old cable TV system left behind when I pulled the plug. Works perfectly on all the sets in the house, and there up to 145 over the air channels in Vegas.

I have been using IPTV for sports and free apps for tv for quite some time now. I’m hoping it never goes away but I always like to keep something on the back burner just in case. I refuse to ever pay for cable tv again.

Yeah, I discovered IPTV from this thread sevaral years ago I believe, haven't looked back since. All the PPVs, sports packages, etc for about 1/10th what I was paying for Directv has been pretty amazing. I added a couple inexpensive Plex Shares and haven't had any need for the on demand service like Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Tell me more about IPTV. Who do you use? Is it legal? What’s the cost?

This is correct. I have access to a Prime account so I do get to watch Thursday NFL games. I also recently re-upped with Netflix so I could watch the Tom Brady roast but I picked the plan with ads which is about $8/month. I haven't watched a damn thing other than the roast.

On regular TV the "shows" I watch during the week are local and national news. Absolutely nothing else. On weekends I watch sports. Yeah, I wish I could have watched the PGA the last two days but I ain't paying a cent to do it.

And if Monday Night Football returns to ESPN only this season (and not ABC) I just won't watch. Life will go on.

it is. the writers strike was why it was on ABC last year.

The writer's strike was the excuse Disney got away with for getting permission to put it on broadcast.

FWIW, Apple TV (the device) supports VPNs now. So if you want the convenience of US Netflix for a fraction of the cost, sign up for an account from Turkey or another country where the premium version is only $3-4/month.

The ones that provide more channels and are less money are definitely illegal. The one I use is 10$ per device per month. I have it installed on 4 devices. Google or YouTube Troypoint or newtechevolution and a lot of your questions can be answered there.
