I think green beans would be better off just sauteed quickly in a pan, but everything else looks solid. Controversial thought: breast> leg> thigh for this type of dish.

Funny story. My wife and I love grilling wings in summer. Always debating flats v drums. She did the shopping one week and said "you love the drums so I got you some". Ummmm...

They were partially frozen still so figured a long water bath while I worked was a good way to go.

Green beans were fresh. Recipe is from the Tasty & Sons cookbook my friend helped write. Bacon, green beans, brown sugar, garlic, fresh jalapeños, sweet onion, strained peeled canned tomatoes, water. 15 mins on high pressure, manual release.

I think I uploaded a pic of it upthread a while ago when someone was asking about IP recipes.

tx - if it's a John Gorham recipe you should give it a shot...i also think you would like his cookbooks (Hello, My Name is Tasty and Toro Bravo: Stories. Recipes. No Bull.).

I did this and really liked it, might be instant pot dependent but I would say less time than the recipe calls for the cook.

Cornish hen, peas, pilaf > that plate above. anorexic bird legs and a mound of rice-a-roni as the entre. Lol

There's been a big run on Cornish hen during the pandemic. I ordered some off Amazon in April that ship from China and they still haven't arrived

Kjs has thicker skin than those legs, and that's saying something. Lol.

Others can learn from that self reflection.

I had a great meal at Toro Bravo years ago. One of the better renditions of paella I have had in the US.

Also had a good meal at Gruner. Sad to have found out that they have closed.

Non-Portlanders have probably missed all the John Gorham drama but he had brain cancer and surgery last year and then recently lost his sh*t on social media after someone vandalized one of his restaurant group's vehicles. Huge backlash and he divested from half of their restaurants. Then an announcement that the remaining ones, the Tasty group, were permanently closing. That was then walked back some but all are closed (like most decent places here) still. He did apologize and sought treatment. Sad story.

I am surprised any Portland restaurant owner maintains a social media presence after the burrito/tortilla gate of yesteryears.

for those that read the thread that aren't Portland familiar, here's the summary of tortilla-gate.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I wonder if any of these old Mexican ladies making tortillas would care and if wasn’t mostly young white people that where offended.

Well:
1. Of course it was young white people
2. Now I want delicious street tacos from buxom senioritas

Living in Portland seems hard.

Cultural appropriation is the single greatest thing that humans have ever done. It’s what makes the U.S as good as it is (despite its flaws).

Imagine a world rigid in ideologies that refused to learn from other cultures.

It’s insane.

The pro move is gaslighting people into thinking you invented the things you appropriated. Italy did a great job of this with pasta (and tomatoes).

I don't get the cultural appropriation outrage.

I love Dave Chang..I eat at his restaurants, have bought his magazines & book, watch his shows and listen to his podcast but its really disappointing to hear his constant rage about cultural appropriation and rants about racism that are more likely stemming from a small band of idiots that give the illusion they represent the majority

What did he expect his viewers, readers and listeners to do when he taught us how to make his tasty vittles?

I always thought it was a compliment to try to emulate others talents, whether it be food, art, architecture or whatever

but what do I know
