How do you read/pronounce OOT?

Yak pointed out in the rOOTlette thread he reads it as you would the word root, so all one sound and one syllable. "Ooooot"

I read it as separate letters. "O", "O", "T".

I learnt da English in USA#1, fwiw.

It's oh-oh-tee. Oot as in root is as bad as pronouncing gif as jif. (Yes, I know that's how the format's creator pronounces it, but he's a computer science guy not a linguist.) I hope anyone who pronounces it oot as in root also says Bvvvv, AT-fuh and NNNV-guh

gregorio is right that the kind of people who would pronounce oot as in root are exactly the same people who would pronounce gif as jif: people who speak proper English

I pronounce it the only correct way and that is OOT as in rOOTbeer. Anyone who says all the letters individually has too much time on their hands and is wasting what little they have left.
