i'm convinced if you had a thread that said "greatest meal you've ever had", 1/3 would be chipotle. and that makes me sad for them.

Of course most lunches are under $10, there are however very few, if any lunches you can get around here (Northern Virginia) for under $5.

To make the thread more interesting, I made the amount $10.

Again, I stated that I'm sure there would be differing criteria in how one would determine the "best value", I expected that. I don't know why that is so hard to grasp.

I have gotten a few good lunch ideas out of the thread, most importantly those delicious looking Vietnamese sandwiches which I now need to track down. (Banh mi)

oddjob: word

kipin: personal recommendation, YMMV - when they make the sandwiches, let them sit for about 5-10 minutes (difficult, for sure) the flavors will blend together better.

In Westminster, CA you can get a 3 banh mi for $4 (Lee's Sandwiches is a bit more expensive).

I'm would rather have the cafe sua da (iced coffee with condensed milk for those not familiar with Vietnamese food) than the soft drink. $1.50 for that.

For the last four years or so, I've spent between $8 and $12 nearly every day for lunch here in the University District. So much wasted money.

LOL. You spend $12 here (in the U-district, wtf)?

But yeah, I basically spend $7-$10 (or so) pretty much every day.

Good stuff though.

Spices Thai in San Diego has soup, salad, spring rolls, fried wontons, rice and your dish for $8 with tofo and $9 for chicken or pork. I have been getting Panang Curry.
