So since I have lots of poker monies now and need some headphones nicer than the bad ones that came with my Ipod, what are the best headphones?

Budget is ~300... Are the Bose Quietcomfort II or III worth the price? Anything similar but better?

There better then any piece of Sh*t that you own.

I personally recommend the Bose QC3's. I have them and they are small, light, and sounds great! They come with a rechargable battery (very small and the charger is really small and included) and then come with the great case! They are perfect for any airline situtation and great when your just trying to focus while you play. 10/10 in my book. They are definitly worst spening $350 on. If you HAVE to stay under your $300 budget then definitly go with the around-ear QC2's. They are a great buy for the money and you know they come with the Quality of Bose.

There are probably 50 different headphones under the price of the Bose that sound better. I have the QC2's, and don't listen to them. The Seinheisser 280's that I paid 80$ for sound much better. Also think about the 555's, 580's, or many other models.

I'm pretty partial to the Shure E2C's - noise cancelling, compact, and have a nice range, and are under $100 US. Some say they're not comfortable, and I suppose any ear bud headphone won't be as comfy as an over the ear model, but I've never had any discomfort with the E2C's ever.

do you want in-canal or over the ear headphones?

i have (and love) the ultimate ears super.fi 5 pro
seen here

and here's another positive review for the Sennheister HD-280 Pros. Cnet loved them when they came out, and I've had them for 4 years now.
seen here

for what it's worth, i've demoed the Bose cans and like the Sennheisers better. I also like the sound of the UEs more than the comparably priced Shure in-ears, fwiw.

BOSE headphones are terribly overpriced for their quality. Cheap good ones are the Sennheiser HD280 pro. Currently I'm using the Audio Technica ATH A900. Much better than my old sennheiser and only $200 depending on where you get them.

Edit: OP also post what headphones you are looking for, i.e., open, closed...

I have QC2, they are not durable, have had them replaced once already because of wear and tear; the sound quality is not *amazing*; the noise cancellation is, however, excellent for public transport and planes, but not muting.

I would not recommend them. Especially because of their total lack of durability, and when i bought them i asked specifically if they were up to my level of wear and tear.

EDIT: I'd go with in-canal shure earphones from the limited research (anticipating me replacing these heads when they break) I've done.

I have a pair of sennheiser 165's which are nice, as well as medusa surround sound. They are both really nice headsets but are designed for gamers for the most part.

I just picked up the Sennheiser PXC-450 noise canceling phones for $300 (retail $450). They get here tomorrow, I'll let you know how they are...
