Yeah, those that hate that scene act like marvel was trying to win an academy award with the avengers. Pretty comical, kinda shows that they have no idea what they're walking into when they buy a ticket imo

Here's how I hope it plays out

Avengers 2 predictions:
-Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision are introduced, and eventually become good guys.
-Avengers find their way to wakanda, Panther has cameo
-Jane Foster dies. Thor gets mad and quits the Avengers
-Hulk rampages, Ironman takes him down. Hulk quits Avegers
-Cap and Ironman have tension, leading to Civil war

Civil War predictions:

-Cap dies ending the war
-Ironman quits avengers.
-Black Panther takes over as lead

Avengers Infnity Part I predictions:

-Black panther gathers Strange, Ant Man, Hawkeye, Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to battle the new threat.

Avengers Infinity Part II predictions:
-Ironman, Thor and Hulk rejoin the avengers with Ms Marvel to help the New Avengers take down Thanos

The log cutting scene with Iron Man and Captain America was leaked. It gives a brief glimpse into their different ideologies that will inevitably lead to Civil War. I can't access youtube now so I can't link it unfortunately

Meh I thought it sucked, but otoh I think I've thought that about every Marvel movie I've made it through more than 10 minutes of so I'm probably just not the target audience (I do feel I would like guardians of the galaxy though, but havent seen it yet)

Whoever didn't like the final battle in Avengers is some sort of cine-snob that expects too much from a movie like The Avengers. Yeah the movie as a whole had flaws, but the final battle kicked major ass.

I didn't read the comics, but avengers 2 is supposed to lead into civil war. I think trying to tie in a hulk sub-plot in the end would be too much for the ending of avengers 2

I very much doubt Hulk will appear in Civil War - which means AoU needs to explain where Banner is. I expect the answer to that will almost have to be 'off-world'

Hulk being sent off somewhere and tension within the Avengers would essentially present two cliff hangers at the end of the movie. I mean, if that's what happens in the comics by the end of AoU, then I guess it's possible. As a viewer, I would find that a little annoying though. But I guess it serves as a story telling tool to keep the audience wanting more. The start of civil war alone should be enough for that though

Apparently, Daredevil will be coming as a Netflix original series in May with plans to follow that with Jessica Jones, Power Man and Iron Fist and building up to the Defenders.

ugh. new avengers looks so good. whoever is editing those trailers needs some award of some sort because they get me more excited than most entire movies.

Lol. this has been announced for literally almost a year. There are theories that the Defenders will make appearances in phase 4 after most of the current Avengers are killed/quit/contracts expire.

Yes, but supposedly Hawkeye has a much bigger role in AoU, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see some classic Hawkeye saving the whole team on multiple occasions

Yeah, but I didn't know about it and it wasn't mentioned in this thread, so it seemed worth mentioning for those who might be interested.

I'm a bit confused as to his those guys lead to a team with Dr. Strange, the Hulk, Namor and the Silver Surfer. Obviously SS is with Fox, but still.

Unfortunately the MCU doesn't have actors who don't age. Downey Jr, Ruffalo, Evans, Hemsworth, Renner and Johansson all have contracts that expire relatively soon compared to new actors, plus I'm sure they're getting sick of it - by the time Avengers Infinity is done with RDJ will have been portrayed as Iron Man for over 10 years.

With a franchise this huge and successful, it would be stupid to recast these huge characters and keep going. There have, however, been theories that after phase 3 is done, these characters will get re-cast and and the whole story will kind of be told again, but differently, (think James Bond series').

Otherwise, what we're going to be left with if the MCU keeps going with this series after phase 3, is a team of secondary characters, with mayyybe 1 or 2 Avengers from this first series.

I don't think they're making the 'Defenders' to start a whole new Defenders set of movies. I think they're introducing this small group of Defenders to get absorbed into the current (as of ~2019) Avengers lineup, or at the very least just a small band of minor heroes to run in tandem with the MCU, teaming up occasionally

Yeah, the Defenders will likely have less interaction with the main MCU as Agents of Shield. The point of it all is to have a staple of "street level" heroes to work with.

I wouldn't absolutely count out some sort of crossover event that would somehow tie in all the MCU connected TV shows with the MCU movies, but it's a long shot, and won't happen for a LONG time.

Yea I could see the Defenders taking down most of the street level crime that the Avengers won't bother with. It's not unlikely that they're brought in for Avengers Infinity part II. I mean AoU already has over a dozen main characters why not bring in a few more for the finale of Phase 3? it will be an epic war afterall

Am I the only one who sympathizes with Thanos?

In the MCU, we know Thanos is seeking the infinity stones. We know at one time he was in posession of the mind gem, which he gave to Loki hoping Loki would return it, and the space gem, to him in exchange for conquering Earth.

Loki fails, and the mind gem is captured by Hydra.

Elsewhere, Thanos employs Ronan to get the Power gem and will in return destroy Xandar. Not only does Ronan fail, but he kills the Other, basically sending a giant FU to Thanos.

Furthermore, Thanos has been unable thusfar to deliver on any of his promises. In the Avengers, he (indirectly) threatens Loki, claiming if he fails, there will be know realm in which he can hide. He also threatens Ronan that if he fails to return the Power gem, he will bathe in the starways of his blood.
So far, these have been empty threats, so not only does he have less infinity gems than he started with, but he's now the laughing stock of the cosmic Universe

So Spiderman's back with Marvel, and will appear in an upcoming MCU movie, most likely Civil War.

Not sure what to think about that.
