Damn. That dog is like the Wittgenstein duck-rabbit. I first see jowls; then I look again and he's yawning.

I just saw a series of disturbing billboards in Alabama or Georgia advertising guns for women to kill their boyfriends/husbands with. First couple were assault rifles/hunting rifles then a woman holding an assault rifle with a caption about empowerment, then one with a purse advertising compactness then one with a silencer saying, "yes, silencers are legal."
08-19-2015 , 08:41 AM
I'm not sure that a woman holding an assault rifle should immediately make you think she's out to kill her partner.
08-19-2015 , 08:46 AM
No, and the first few were for men.

New threads are needed, someone must have done something weird this summer.

My life is extremely boring right now, I feel like I've settled in and am slowly dying. Its pretty sad and Im pretty depressed right now.

The only thing shaking me up from time to time is work and you KNOW it is wrong when your work is more interesting then the rest of your life (or maybe not but it feels like that).

My friends all started breeding last year and are either pregnant or already pushed their first one out and going for number two, that's probably not the most constructive/interesting/motivating bunch to have around at times.

I love my gf and Im in a better place now but at least when I was single and bored I could just go out and do nasty stuff to random girls (which was a terrible lifestyle but at least not boring).

I stopped drinking and smoking weed for about a month now and even though I feel better in a way it also made me more conscious of how little Im doing to further myself in life. Some evenings/nights are spend exclusively on trolling 2+2, I thought I was better than that. I need to restart my blog in HOB, at least that gave me some kind of sense of direction.

/rant, the OOT LC is my blog once a month (at least its better then making one of the ol' what to do with my life threads so bear with me)

I'm sitting on a bus in Malta right now watching the person next to me eat potato chips and orange ice cream. Want a photo? They aren't dipping the chips in the ice cream or I'd already have posted that.

How is this activity not requiring 3 hands ?

Yeah, Ill use that Robinwhatshisnameguys thread to live report my progress .

Ill be honest, deep inside I'd be like ... yeah that sounds good, but Im afraid Im too much of a psychological (and possibly financial) mess to deal with that.

I also really ****ing love my job, its fun, interesting, pays well and I have a right amount of responsibilities, its basically one of the few things I have going for me right now. I just need to find a life other then work.

I cant come home from work, eat, troll, sleep everyday, that's just not what I was created for. I have to find something to do, I have to literally get a life. Im thinking of ordering a row trainer so I can get into shape but just that isn't enough.

I just like to balk about whatever thing sucks about my life I guess, especially because a lot of you guys are seemingly successful which really does act like a role model kind of thing even though I can suck/be a dick/troll at times. When Im not depressed I do a **** load of stuff but when Im depressed its just mostly boring sad stuff I cant deal with. Im going to give my blog a spin tonight so I don't need to emo post in here but thanks for listening/not complaining, lol.

You're not meant to get a girlfriend then just stop doing anything.

(also, I find my work more enjoyable than the rest of my time, but that's how I chose to divide my life in advance)

Yak, sounds like you need to start doing nasty stuff to your girlfriend.

@ET
Thats kind of how we met. I have a great relationship with my gf and we do a lot of fun stuff together, we go out to eat a lot, visit festivals, go out on weekend trips or whatever but thats usually all just the two of us. Its mostly the day to day boredom that bothers me most. It doesnt really bother her that much because she is in a pretty intense research master program so she has things to read/write pretty much all the time.

I think Sciolist got it sort of right, I love my job so why not do more of that. I just found some courses I want to take which can help me get further in my career and they will give me something to do when Im at home. I think Im going to take singing lessons as well because, f yeah why not. And buy that ****ing row trainer because f yeah why not.

Yak,

You need a hobby, man. Pick anything and do it for a couple weeks. If it sucks, pick something new. Rinse & repeat until you find one that doesn't suck.

Given what you wrote, I would suggest something physical in nature. Doesn't have to be exercise, but just something that actually require physical labor so you can get fully involved in something.

Yak,

Don't buy the row trainer. I've never come across someone who ordered one out of the blue and then not let it gather dust after three weeks.

Just go to the gym 3 times a week to row, (try sporttegoed.nl), and see if after one month you still want one at home.

This is actually all completely spot on, I mostly smoked weed because it gave my brain some rest/made me feel less spazzy. I've found that manual labor gives me a feeling that comes pretty damn close to that. I'll probably start with a new home improvement list so I got things to work on. Don't laugh but I've been doing some gardening recently and that made me feel pretty damn good.

I was actually going to buy a used one, I've done some research and I feel like they have a pretty constant value (I could buy one for 100 bucks and resell for 75 if I don't like it).
You're right though, Im going to walk by a gym on my way home from work and see if I can get a single month subscription (its probably a little bit cheaper vs that site depending on frequency and initial cost). Thanks all for the comments/effort.

Yak,

You're kind of the Euro-Jmakin, but with less pretension. Although that's a little counter-intuitive, I guess.
08-21-2015 , 10:35 AM
Yak,
Instead of just deciding to get in shape, I'd recommend signing up for physical activities/events. I like running, but I'm much more motivated to do it regularly when I have a scheduled race that I've signed up for. Or join a running/[other activity] club that meets regularly so it becomes kind of an obligation but more importantly a social aspect tied up with something that's good for you.

Good luck - it's easy to get into a cycle of feeling depressed--> decreased activity because you're feeling depressed --> feeling more depressed because you're not getting enough activity -->...

I'm going to take this as a compliment.

Using his phone as well:

I think RDH hit the nail on the head. Yak is pretty much euromakin.

Yak get out there and do some stuff. As someone else said, cycle hobbies until you find something that clicks with you. Don't be ashamed of trying gardening or singing. Do what you want, f the haters. Haters are afraid to do what they want, that's why they try to tear down those who do.
