I saw the Exact same large scale illusion performed by Lance Burton and Kirby Van Burch. Its the "backstage" one. The audience gets the back stage view. Its a cool illusion, it takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. My question.
Are there any copyright laws over illusions ?
Why did I see this illusion by 2 different performers ?
Did someone have to give permission to use it or was it possible sold to another performer.

I think the backstage illusion was created my Jim Steinmeyer, another guy. Most illusions are'nt created by the magicians themselves.
Chances are Jim created it, and sold the rights to both of them. It is very possible for someone to create a trick and copyright it. David Copperfield is famous for that.
