What credit checks (if any) are carried out to see if a customer can 'afford' to gamble at the stakes you want him to?
05-19-2012 , 11:13 AM
Biggest spin up you have ever seen in one session?
05-19-2012 , 11:19 AM
are the machines rogged?
05-19-2012 , 11:19 AM
we cash checks up to 500 with no credit check, beyond that we run standard ones for those wanting to take out markers, we have several who can come in and get 25k and up on a finger.

I read that as "slut host", then realized my mistake.

How does it not make you depressed to work in an environment where its nothing but old people with a cigarette hanging from their mouth tirelessly punching a button with a glazed look in their eye while death who is standing close by stares them in the face.

I shudder when I have to walk by the slots on the way to the poker room whenever I go to the local indian casino. I can only guess that a midwest casino would be even worse.

I played in a poker tournament one time, where the start time coincided with some giveaway where you got tickets for your slot play over the last month and they had a raffle and gave away a crappy PT cruiser. The place was jam packed with nothing but old people. Most of them with a bitchy look in their eye. Literally at least 200 of them. Some im sure lost more getting those tickets than the value of the car. The best was seeing like some 80 year old on her scooter who im sure isnt even legally allowed to drive anymore, clutching her one (lol) ticket, like she even had a chance.

Im surprised there wasnt a couple ambulances out front just waiting to haul away some of the people who dropped dead just from old age.

LOL at the poker player calling the slot players pathetic.

If people enjoy slots I don't have a problem with it. But as a group, slots players are pretty damn pathetic. A lot of them look like they've been hypnotized. Some poker players might have similar qualities but at least poker has the potential to be mentally engaging.

heidi, could you tell us about methods your organization takes to thwart/deal with people who hustle slots, if at all?
05-19-2012 , 03:47 PM
What does it mean to hustle slots?
05-19-2012 , 03:53 PM
"Host" means different things to different casinos, with different levels of hosts having different job responsibilities.

How much of your job involves working on the floor with all guests, working with a specific group of coded players assigned to you based on play, hosting events off property for coded players, telephone sales to coded guests, booking hotel rooms, and entertaining guests via dinner or somesuch.

Thanks I'll hang up and listen.

Do you ever have to score blow for high stakes slot players who want to grind longer sessions?

agreed i thought this thread would have potential

@HEIDI do you get hit on by older slot players or entertain them after hours?
05-19-2012 , 06:19 PM
I dont really have any questions cuz that sounds like a ****ing depressing soulcrushing job.
05-19-2012 , 07:22 PM
You'd have to build up an intense hatred for slots players, then it wouldn't be depressing anymore. Enticing them to run through their money as fast as possible could be lots of fun then.

as if they wouldn't do it anyway? Going through life seething with hate for dumb old ladies doesn't exactly sound like a pleasant existence either.
