Y, and not just the food/drink. Love that they say explicitly to turn off your phones, no talking or you will be ejected.

Yeah, their commercials are actual voicemails of pissed off customers who got kicked out for talking or using their phone.

They also do cool lots of cool events like flashback movies, Saturday morning cartoons, smoking nights, etc.

I remember for the release of Grindhouse, they showed pulp movies all day leading up to the premiere at midnight, all for the price of one ticket. Was a blast!

Alamo Drafthouse is a moviegoing dream. I loved watching Drive with a pitcher of beer and a basket of fried pickle spears.

Cool concept. We'll likely go see Guardians of the Galaxy next month, I'll suggest to my wife.

Just had my iPhone 7 battery replaced. The guy couldn’t believe I was still using the original from 2016. “You definitely won the game, man.”

This morning I learned that getting a numbing shot in your finger (got a splinter or other small object stuck in there and was helpless to get it out, so I went to the clinic seeking assistance) is WAY worse than a shot basically anywhere else. The P.A. said a shot in an ear is the only other place it's as bad. On a normal shot in the arm, I don't flinch, let alone make a sound. This? I full-on yelled out in pain.

Worth it, obviously, to regain full normal use of an index finger. But ****.

Yes! I've had two "sessions" of lidocaine straight into an open wound on a finger. Both times way worse than the initial injury. The second was when I severed all but some skin on my pinky in January.

Hmmm, I have a trip report to write about that.

Pain in a very sensitive spot with lots of nerve endings, and they compared it to an ear? I can think of a few other spots with lots of nerve endings that might be as painful.

Reminds me of when I had a paronychia, which was a big blister near the nail of my index finger. The treatment for it is to slash it open with a scalpel, then press on it to get the fluid out.

The doctor said, this is going to hurt. We’re going to put this cold-pack on it to numb it a little, but it’s still going to hurt.

She was certainly right about that. I did appreciate her honesty.

I used to get acupuncture in my ears, **** was wild.

Depends on what the meaning of ear is.

I had a tube put in one ear (like a damn kid), and I immediately understood why they put those little guys to sleep to do it. Just the anesthesia being squirted onto my eardrum was bad enough. I've had it done several times now and have adapted enough that I would prefer that over an injection into many areas of my finger.

Inside the ear... yeow. I remember having an ear infection and flying. Going up and coming down were easily the most pain I've ever been in.

Getting one of my covid shots, the nurse said, "Now there's going to be..." and of course I was expecting "little pinch" or something like that, but she said, "...a big stick" and jabbed me. I guess it was above-average for pain for a shot, but nothing crazy. And maybe she wasn't even thinking that deeply, but her, lull them with normal patter, but change it up right before sticking them, that got me.

I just rolled my sleeve down and thanked her.

had lots of ear infections as a kid (borrowed that knowledge from someone else who taught me second-hand smoke is often a cause) and i still have trouble flying because of the pain. i take decongestants ahead, sometimes nasal spray during, and also wear earplanes to simply make it tolerable. if i'm not prepared the pain is eyewatering. it's like bolting the sides of your skull together connected directly behind the ears.
it would probably help if i could 'pop' my eardrums at will, but can't remember the last time i was able to do that.

but not the worst pain
get your shingles vaccines folks

I've had a handful of lidocaine shots in my face before they realized it wasn't working and cut back some skin and stitched me up. The lidocaine did nothing.

I'm sure the fingers were bad.

As far as most pain.... abdominal surgery followed by abdominal paralysis. Back, neck, and head pain might be worse, but it was easily the most pain I've experienced.

About 12 years ago I was working in a restaurant and chopped off about 1/4 inch of my left index finger. Had to go to the hospital. They injected something into my finger, around the part where a little bit of bone was exposed. Hurt way more than the original injury.

You couldn't write a funnier definition for acupuncture than the official one:

"Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners insert fine needles into the skin to treat health problems."

73 bodies found (so far) in a mass grave in Kenya. Some dude convinced them they could only get into heaven if they starved themselves to death.

Do tell.

My brother-in-law's sister got shingles. The outbreak was from the inside of her left knee, up her thigh to her v-jay jay and over her stomach up the left side of her torso to her underarm. She couldn't wear anything but a house coat for about a month. Sleeping was very difficult as she said anytime something touched the affected area, it felt like someone lit a kitchen match and immediately pressed it on her skin.

I immediately called my pharmacist and scheduled 2 doses of Shingrix. My case of chicken pox as a kid was pretty severe and I definitely want no part of that.

Cool. I haven't seen that brand before and always looking for assistance when flying. I'll check it out.

It may be a safer way as it likely ensures that you don't overdo it (cf: tachycardia hyperlink in the article linked above).
