Bad things happen in threes.

#1 You went to a wake...somebody died.

#2 your laptop took a bath=no more laptop

#3 >insert next calamity<

Hope this helps!

The same thing happened to my son. The building owner bought him a new one. His laptop was 3-4 years old and he had all his important stuff on an external HD, so it was a blessing in disguise.

In theory your landlord's insurance should pay for it. In reality, they (the landlord) may want to fight you and it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Ideally, you should have renter's insurance and don't even deal with the building.

I dont know what usually happens, but my friend has the same situation as you.

The landlord ended up buying him everything new that was ruined as well as new carpet. It was really drenched.

If you don't have renters insurance you are sol. Your landlord is not legally responsible.

Yep. It's even better when taken in conjunction with your avatar. Obviously A =/= A

I hope you have renters ins. If so, it will definitely cover this.

It's always wise to have insurance. However my son's ins co told him to collect form the landlord, and the landlord paid because of their lack of maintenance, not because of some catastrophe.

haha, of course your sons insurance told him to collect from the landlord. They don't want to pay either.
