Yeah there's a free one with Ads now (the one off GetJar).

I'll wait for the paid version with no ads.

My Beta Lite version has no ads. Got it from the market.

That's the beta though. They put the full version with ads up on GetJar for free as of last night. The funny thing is it's so popular it keeps crashing GetJar's site from all the traffic.

A paid version without ads is suspected to hit the official market in the next 24 hours.

Applying this kind of moral code to the interactions between yourself (an individual) and a corporation is ridiculous. In other words, you think I should treat a corporation as if it is a person when it isn't.
Absolutely, extortion is a tried and true real business. If they don't do what you want, a little visit by Rocko & Feetch will straighten them out, or their chiropractor. gmafb

I'll probably go for the paid version without ads because I don't mind supporting them for such a great game. I hope it has as many levels as the iOS version.

Well the free version of Angry Birds with Ads is on the official market now. Thought everyone would want to know.

I'm still holding out for a paid version without ads. It's cool they're giving people options though. Now I just hope they release the paid version soon.

Somewhere I read that they'll get more money from the ad version. I'm not sure how true that is, but as popular as the game is I could see that.

What is the difference between the beta lite and the full version? Seemed easy (for me, NOT a gamer) to reach level 1-11 but I still can't clear 1-12 (it's gotta have something to do with that box of TNT down there but I can't blow it up).

i got 3 stars on all the levels in the beta pretty easily. the full version appears to have like 200-250 levels! love how they have a free w/ ads and a paid w/o. choice!
10-15-2010 , 04:43 PM
i've only played it for a minute or 2 at lunch today, but my free version seems to have no ads.

edit: maybe it's just because i have ads blocked through my ROM?

if you arent connected to 3g or wifi im guessing you wont get ads. thats been my experience with all other apps with ads.

I just got an hsupa rom on my captivate and it feels crazy faster on the net than before.
10-16-2010 , 12:24 AM
i'm still not sure why i installed cyanogen mod (meaning i think i'm not getting everything (anything?) out of having a special ROM)

can someone post like a top 10 awesome stuff about having a custom android ROM or something?
10-16-2010 , 01:14 AM
uber speed with lag fix. faster internet with hsupa. free awesome tether abilities with mobile ap (true infrastructure mode, not ad hoc).

those are my top three atm.

also no bloatware!

It's a great phone, but I feel that if you are going to buy it then just be sure you are going to use enough on the features and gadgets to make it worth while.

Who are you replying to?

KK, it really depends on what you're rooting for. You can get faster speeds by installing overclock kernels without a ROM. Wireless tether, too (not sure what the advantage of infrastructure mode versus ad hoc means). A lot of ROMs come packaged with custom themes (or, even better, your choice of many themes). And I'd say the Number 1 reason to install a ROM is if your phone isn't up to date with the newest software yet. I had froyo running on my Droid way before it was available from Verizon.

That said once official froyo came out, I switched back to it (still rooted), because I felt it was just cleaner.

EDIT: Just read this about infrastructure v. ad hoc. How does this benefit an individual? I share my wireless tether with two computers max.

Much more compatibility with more devices. For me it's great because it works better with my iPad and Eye-Fi setup.

Also, the older ad hoc Wireless Tether I used only had WEP security, which is very easy/fast to hack.

As for security, I'd imagine that's a non-issue for most people (who are not using the tether as their primary means of internet access, and usually only using it sporadically).

But yeah, I'm with you on compatibility actually. I have a Nook (that was a waste), and its wifi won't connect to the ad-hoc network of my tether. Are there any tether options that are available with root but don't require a rom?

How unsafe is pda.net?
10-17-2010 , 02:50 PM
I think it's ad-hoc.

just got my first smart phone! went for the samsung fascinate i500. i really liked the screen. it's big, but thin. looks great.

Tasker is awesome. takes a while to learn i guess. but i imagine as more profiles/tasks and examples show up online, maybe even downloadable packages, it will be easy and pretty sweet.

i will post some examples of my profiles and tasks later, but unfortunately i f*kd up the phone. in trying to create a brightness widget in tasker, i lowered the brightness to 0 and the screen is permanently black. i'm trying to flash the original rom with Odin, but not having any luck yet. prolly going to verizon tomorrow since its only 40 hrs old... lol.
10-18-2010 , 04:50 AM
lol? is that really possible with tasker? wouldn't that just make the screen really dim?

its possible, trust me

if you mess around with enough settings that is? i was cycling through brightness levels by creating a brightness variable and adding 51 points. when i got back around to 0, it just went black. once i lost where i was, it was too late
