Anyone getting a DROID / ANDROID? Anyone getting a DROID / ANDROID?

I managed to root my Epic. However, I'm reading up on Unleash the Beast and he says to put the zip file in the internal memory, not the sd card. How do I move the file to the internal memory so it updates when I reboot the device?

Does anyone know if there's an app that plays .wmv videos? It would be really cool to watch a cardrunners vid from an airport or someplace.
Make sure you don't have 4g on all the time. My Evo last a full day with no problem, but sometimes I forget to turn 4g off after a big download and it will MURDER your battery life.

3g will murder it too. Get juice defender and it gives you a widget to toggle mobile data off and will disable mobile data when the screen is off. I like the toggle so I can rock pandora with the screen off.

Gonna get a new Verizon phone, is there a slam-dunk winner between the Incredible or the Droid X?

**I grunched over the past couple hundred posts, couldn't find what i was looking for.

The Incredible is more customizable I think if you are into rooting and running roms. Only thing the droidx has that I wished the incredible has is the HDMI out.

The Samsung Fascinate just came out and is available and should be cheaper. Unfortunately Verizon stepped on their own dick by making bing the default search engine and you can't just junk it and use Google (at least not 'equivalently'). There are workarounds but they don't fix it 100%. I had to install another launcher (LauncherPro) and then install the enhanced google search widget on it using that. Google Navigate and Maps are either already on it or easily added but Google search isn't as simple.

It's a shame that Verizon would compromise the quality of their product for a bribe from Microsoft (granted, $500+M is a big bribe).

From what I've read, when the upgrade to Froyo comes out for the Fascinate this won't be an issue but I'll only believe it after I see it.

But I guess the bright side is that I'm being forced to learn how to modify/root a smartphone (root is already out BTW).

EDIT: If I choose to exchange my Fascinate, which I still haven't decided on yet, I'll prob get an Incredible. The X is almost too big.

Link. The pessimist in me says the Froyo update will be a conspicuously long wait for the Fascinate.

I just recieved a text last night that my incredible has a froyo update. If I waited this long for it I would have probably lost it. Glad I rooted the first week I had the phone. Nothing like custom roms and kernels. With King's kernel and setcpu along with juice defender I have no issues making it all day on the stock battery. When the screen goes off my phone uses zero battery.

I looked up Juice Defender in the Market and it says that it doesn't need root access. I have a rooted Samsung Epic, is there another version of Juice Defender I should be using? I just downloaded the Market version and am using the default settings.

It doesn't need root to work but it will work with root. Just hit allow when you run setup and it asks you for root.

Edit: You can buy the ultimate juice if you want total control but it's not needed. Also get juice plotter so you can see your battery use history in a graph.

Just came across this app after reading another forum. Might be fun to listen to. http://www.androidzoom.com/android_a...adio_gler.html

Alright, I'm sure there's an insanely easy way to do this, but I'm sick of playing with this. My father just got the Samsung Captivate, I'm trying to get music onto it for him, which I can. In order to access the music though, I have to click Apps--->My Files---->Music. I'm looking for a way to get it on the home screen. I created a folder labeled "Music" on the home screen, but when I click and hold the "Music" folder in "My Files", and attempt to move it, it won't allow me to move it to the newly created folder. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way to quickly "end-task" on a program that is frozen?

You shouldn't have to go to any folder called My Files. You should just be able to open the app drawer at the bottom of the screen, scroll to the Music app, long press until it disconnects from the drawer and move it on to any of the home screens. All your music will auto-load into this app.

I don't have a captivate, but from what I understand this is the same in all android phones. Unless I'm not understanding what you're trying to do.

Download task killer. But I don't recommend using it outside of these situations. From what I've read, people who think constantly killing apps somehow increases their battery life are mistaken.

Or go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Your Application > Force Close

I agree completely. I also use SystemPanel to monitor my system and it'll allow you to force quit apps. Although I rarely ever do it.

Yah!! Fruit Ninja is out. This game is so addictive and evil! Best $0.99 ever spent. If you guys get it make sure you get the one by Halfbrick and not one of the clones.

It runs extremely well on my Evo. They did a great job with it. I can't wait for them to port more of their games over to Android.

Bought it.

Now if we could just get the full version of Angry Birds, I'd be in heaven.

Oh sweet you can copy from inside other text input boxes. And with gmail (concepts) I can even put my name in such a field from my PC. Any way you can copy&paste from normal browser text?

Yes, tap and hold and you'll get a menu or select tool.

For anyone who would like to and hasnt yet, the MLB At Bat App is on sale for half price. Marker down from 14.99 to 6.99 until next week I beleive.

Still a little overpriced but I jumped on it.
