Are you high? Seriously...what would cause you to think this?

Hundreds of sites in any given metro area...each with 20+ Mbps connectivity to it. Connectivity between switches. Connectivity to the Internet. Routers. People to maintain and run all of the above. And it costs nothing?!

And that's ignoring the billions that it costs to get the RF licenses and the cost of building the network in the first place.

also as I mentioned upthread they are great about the corporate discounts that they keep giving you. I got mine 3 companies and 8 years ago, still get 20% off every month.

now that I'm on family plan with my wife, I save $18 on our minutes (20% * $90), $6 on data for 1 phone (20% * $29.99), plus I think we save another $5 or so on our txt. save roughly $350 a year.

Friend who works in sales also told me it's only until your current contract is up that you are grandfathered in, but seriously I hope you are right because that would be a great sigh of relief. Really hoping you're proving me wrong honestly.
I called Verizon last night and they said that as long as you don't drop your smartphone data plan, you'll remain grandfathered indefinitely (or I suppose if they change policies again).

I still decided against upgrading to a smartphone, but that's besides the point.

I can't get to this by searching the marketplace.

I just copied the link and emailed it to myself then opened it on my phone.

This app is awesome.

I was surprised at the amount of data I used. After about 2 hours of running Pandora constantly and browsing 2p2 and other websites - I'd downloaded 104MB over 3G.

^ most of that is from Pandora

This is 100% true. I kept the same plan I had from Alltel years ago until just recently when I started traveling more and needed to switch to a nationwide plan. I still didn't think they would do the same with the data plan but apparently they are.

Will that be the default or will I have to make a big deal out of clarifying that I want to be grandfathered in?

you can go online and do it yourself, right now (provided you are eligible to upgrade). you can stop short of when you are actually committed to do it, if you just want to see the option.

as I said above I doubt this will be policy forever.

I'm curious, what's the equivalent of an iPod touch for android?

Best I could come up with was a Nook Color. Anything with more horsepower like the current crop of android smartphones?

Thanks Amp! The Archos looks interesting. I wonder how much the resistive screen hurts it? You gave me something to research.

Currently using wireless tether on a rooted evo and love it. Can someone suggest a non-wireless version? I assume physically tethering to my phone would be faster and safer in public areas - access control doesn't seem to be working.

should be available as a standard option on your phone, no app needed. settings --> wireless & networks --> Tethering --> activate "usb-tethering" (naming maybe a little different, using german version of cm7 atm). if you're still using sense, i assume you can just choose this option automatically if you connect it to usb iirc.
or is this deactivated by your carrier? or did i misunderstand you?

If you quote the post, you can read it.

+1 to the app being formatted much like Forum Runner. We old folks get set in our ways and like our forums apps to act like they used to.
07-09-2011 , 05:09 PM
Considering most forums are using the same generic tapatalk app then you should really like that. All the forums I read use the same exact app. It's nice that there is uniformity but it sucks b/c the tapatalk app is missing a few things.

Something kind of stranget happened to my phone after I started using Pocket Casts.

It changed my voice call ringtone to one of the podcasts I downloaded, I'm not sure why. It's the intro to Bart Hanson's Deuce Plays podcast and it's actually kind of a cool intro so I haven't bothered changing it back.

The only thing I have to do is make sure to either ignore it or answer in the first 7 or 8 seconds while it's just music before my friends hear my ringer go "For the best in poker strategy......"
