Good luck for tonight. I thought your OP was pretty great. You get away with stuff that *should* turn the audience against you, always good to watch. I'd like to see you try those jokes looking like one the three jokers below you in that flyer though.

As a performer and person I think you have strong mainstream appeal, but your act is a little too edgy/slightly too mean spirited to leave people feeling super good at the end. You're funny though.

Great show last night! Ended up doing 50 minutes for almost 200 people!

Did headlining end up feeling/being very different in terms of pressure or response or is every night super different anyway?

Also, I think often comics get free drinks? I assume so anyway. Do you drink before/after you perform? I have a feeling this has been covered at some point. Let's add any other substances to that, too like weed or anything else. Just kind of curious. You seem so buttoned up in your approach so I assume you basically skip all of that kind of stuff.

Btw, it's super awesome watching your career progress via 2p2. Maybe it'd be awkward if you sucked, but you clearly don't so it's pretty fun. I wish noodleman followed that lead and posted more videos and/or actual stuff. Maybe he does and I've misssed it all, that would be a shame.

Pressure was higher leading up to the show, certainly, although I wasn't nervous during the set. I was worried a bit about the pacing and timing of the set, and that it flowed together and felt cohesive rather than like 40 separate jokes. I was able to arrange everything into sections that worked well and had good transitions so that wasn't a problem. I also worried about how long the set would be. I prepared what I thought was 45 minutes of material, but in some run-throughs it was taking me only about 40 minutes to get through. I added a couple of bits the day before and coupled with my pace and the time it takes for the audience laughter to die down, the set ended up lasting 50 minutes.

Free drinks depends on the club. In NYC, comics usually just get free soft drinks and water, but have to pay a discounted rate for alcohol. When I did the comedy festival in Louisville in September, they had tons of free alcohol and the club owners were constantly trying to do shots with us. I rarely drink before a show, and never drink before an important show. Your mind is definitely less sharp and you will slur your words more so that can't be good. Some guys do it because it helps them relax on stage but I don't usually have that issue anymore.

You look very presidential, Doctor. Congrats!

Did you get any of it recorded?

Hey man, congratulations. I watched your short clip from the contest a few months ago and thought you were great, but 50 mins is a whole new level. You should be very proud of your progress this year, if I may say that.

Keep up the good work and best of luck going forward. Rooting for you.

I may look presidential, but based on the content of this set I'm probably unelectable!

Thanks man, I have been working very hard the last couple of years, and especially the last few months. Since the TV appearance a lot of opportunities have opened up for me which is very lucky, but I know I need to keep improving so that I can take advantage of these opportunities when they come up!

Just bumping for an update:

I just won a competition called New York's Got Talent. It's basically a NYC based clone of America's Got Talent, except not affiliated and not televised. I had to go through 4 rounds of competition but I came out on top and now as part of my prize they will give me a 6 week run (once a week) of my show at an Off Broadway theater. Pretty cool!

Nothing on the schedule yet because I'm going to be away most of that period for Labor Day weekend. If you come in a night earlier, I'm doing Roast Battle September 1st at NY Comedy Club.
