ALDI is amazing. The frozen stir-fry that comes in the blue bag for like 1.99 and makes 5-6 meals is delicious.

Can't beat the produce either. Or those Jalepeno Cheddar chips yummmm.

I remember way back in the day we used to credit customers a nickel for every bag they brought in, be it a reused one or something they owned. Of course this inevitably led to a cheap-ass trying to spread like twenty groceries over twenty bags to save a buck but whatever.

It also reminded me that we were supposed to ask "is plastic ok?" instead of "paper or plastic?" because the former was less cost to us. But I was like 15 and didn't understand how the world worked and told the store manager that I thought it was wrong to push one type or another upon the customer. I think he knew that explaining this to me would be more trouble than it was worth so he just let me say whatever I wanted. The stores won, though - I almost never see paper bags at stores or anyone asking for it anymore.

They sell sweet ass at ALDI's where you live? Sweet.

Cape Cod chips are delicious. Yet evil, because they are very likely to cut the inside of your mouth and it hurts like dick when the salt hits a flesh wound, imo.
Getting hurt by a dick sounds like a personal problem.

So do we have any new ALDI converts that wish to step forward and share their story?

I'd buy jalapeno potato chips for 2 bucks in a split second if I could, but there ain't no Aldi's down here in Texas.

GiftedMadness, are you still as crazy as a bedbug? Are you manic right now?

I've shopped there a bit when I worked at a place that had one on the way home. Great prices, it was nice being able to get a weeks worth of food for 20-25 bucks.

you're lucky I have a sense of humor

I'm perfectly sane, um kinda. Not manic in the least. Drunk? maybe.

I haven't been manic since 2006 (my last psychosis).

Here as well in Denmark. It's a horrible place.

I didn't know there were Aldi's in the U.S, when did this happen?

I feel a strange satisfaction that this happened before we got Wal Marts.

I use to live in Springfield Missouri and loved Aldi's! Use to buy a lot of food there. Loved the frozen frys and jars of cheese. But yeah loved the hell out of the store. Sucks now because the closest aldis is like 30 miles from me and blah blah blah.

I never know what my wife will drag home from ALDI's. One time she bought a walker for her grandmother there. I've been to a few stores in Germany, and same thing -- random stuff in the center section. They had "garden shoes" (sort of like Crocs) and dressy polo shirts on sale. You turn around and there is a whole shelf of Euro-cookies and crackers.

Good deals on good food. Don't let the generic / unfamilar brands throw you. You almost can't go wrong.

My wife picked up a pretty cool organizer for the kids toys from Aldi a while back, she had just purchased pretty much the exact same thing (even the same colored buckets) from Target when she saw the Aldi ad in the paper for $30 instead of $75.

I tend to stop and grab things on my way home from work since its the nearest store to my house that doesn't involve a detour. Their frozen burgers are pretty good. Obviously not as good as fresh, but you can get 3lb of patties (12 - 1/4lb, I think) for like $6 and they are at least as good as a Bubba Burger or whatever the name brand equivalent is.

Thank god I am going back to America in a week and will never have to shop at ALDI again. Edeka is ok, Lidl is dump too, tho.

Interesting one or both of the bros who own ALDI also own Trader Joe's, which unlike ALDI is a pleasant place to shop. You do find some Trader Joe's products in ALDI, which is its only saving grace besides being cheap.... oh and those chips.

Tons of people do in fact say they are going to "Wal-Mart's" or "Best Buy's"...not expressing an opinion either way, but I've heard it a lot.
