Traveling from Reno to DC through Dallas. When I got to DFW I found that American had cancelled over 500 flights yesterday due to some wiring issue with their MD-80 fleet. My DC flight was one of the axed ones.
After dealing with massive crowds of unhappy people, I finally got through on the phone to the AAgent who put me on a flight this morning from DFW-Dulles. Originally I was flying into Reagan National. My one bag was checked thru to Reagan, obv. AA claims they will reroute my luggage.
Assuming I get to Dulles, what are the odds that my luggage arrives with me? I think the line should be around +1.80
My brother is stuck in town because of this. Three flights for him have been cancelled and he expects his current 4pm departure to be cancelled as well.
I would just tell them to keep it at Reagan and pick it up there.

They assured me that it would be transfered to my IAD flight, but as I saw the bags coming off the carousel I realized that I had set the line way too low and that it was probably closer to 50-1 that my bag would show up. Fortunately, it had gone to Reagan earlier in the day and I picked it up there.
Considering the mess that AA is dealing with, I feel like a winner.
This is getting crazy - AA is cancelling 900 more flights tomorrow. And all this has nothing to do with high fuel prices or the fact a recession has started.
