The good shooters effectively do. Their off hand just brings the ball up to the start of their shooting motion and then from their it doesnt move and your shooting hand does everything. Which is pretty much how you should be shooting a set shot. If you are doing anything with your off hand, you have crappy form. Which is why you see crappy free throw shooters try it with one hand, so they have to focus on strictly the motion of the shot, and not **** it up with their off hand.
Also, you think there wasnt a bunch of money riding on the outcome of that 3 point contest? Arenas was going to shoot it the way that gives him the highest % of makes. Which for him was a set shot with strict form.
