I have witnessed a tragedy, of course not on this scale, and I can say for a fact that immediately following it helped a lot to talk about what I saw. I think the media is scummy for doing it, of course, but I don't know if they are really harming these kids. If there are any parents using this as an opportunity to get their kids on TV, that's pretty abhorrent.

One little girl who was in the gym said they were told to basically huddle in the corner. That can't be the best course of action, even if teachers aren't expected to be calm and collected tragedy avoiders.

I think discussing if you consider this terrorism really hinges on how you define terrorism. When you do that- you should try really hard to not be racist about it.

Scary to think that it's so easy for things like this to happen. Not a parent but I couldn't imagine how they feel right now if their kid goes to that school. My prayers are with them.

Reading about most shootings makes me feel bad in a more abstract way...like I hate hearing it, and it's awful, but it often doesn't feel that "real" for whatever reason.

This one makes me feel legitimately ill to read about.
