I thought the S3 was gorgeous at the time, S4 pretty much unchanged, Note 2 meh. But the Note 3 and S5 are hideous imo. You have to really try hard to make something look that cheap.

i have the s4 active which seems to have the same "resistant to 1 meter" description as the s5 and it's super legit in my experience. have taken it in pools and the ocean, taken lots of underwater pics etc, with no 0 issues.

Tron,

The S4 Active and S5 are both ip67 certified
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsu...arison_id53060 s5
http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsun...e-Phone_review s4

Also, nothing will be officially rated as waterproof. Even the Rolex Deepsea is only stated as water resistant(to a mere 12,800 feet)

the s5 is ip67. the z2 is ip58. the first digit is level of dust proof, the second digit is level of water proof. so sony is slightly less dust proof but slightly better water proof (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code for more details). but you're right, my first post was incorrect , sorry for that. was not aware that that the s5 was also ip67

Links below are to xda for Sprint Note 2.

I've been happy with the simplicity of CM11. I installed in early Dec when other KitKat ROMs were in alpha. Dirty Unicorns looked great but was glitchy then, seems to now be in stable beta, as does KitKat Paranoid Android.

what's the deal with "up to 3 feet in water"? it wouldn't survive 5 foot depths?

I guess pressure matters at some point but surely there is no difference between 3 and 5 feet of water?

Iirc pressure makes a difference and there's a difference between 3 feet and 5 feet of water...

Shockingly enough, the difference between pressure at 1m and at 2m is...TWICE AS MUCH.

So yeah, it matters.

It is a standard of water resistance. It doesnt necessarily mean going beyond 3 feet for 30 minutes will equal the death of the device, just that it is rated to achieve that and anything beyond it means they are not liable. Basically its just to protect you dropping the phone in the toilet/bath/pint of beer but its not meant to be taken diving in a pool, but if you did it would likely be fine (I accept no liability for being wrong ).

Anyone know if there's a way to disable the "right swipe to call" feature in contacts? I've already mistakenly called someone and see many more in the future if I can't disable it.

How do I setup Nova? It seems like a pain in the ass compared to Themer.

That's a weird way of looking at it. If you want a launcher that does lots of crazy customizations for you, use Themer... If you want something more like the classic interface but with more features, or where you can build your customization from the ground up, use Nova...

Yeah themer has the widgets builtin, other launchers you'll need to add 3rd party ones.

So what is really the point of Nova? You can just customize the original interface?

I would phrase it more like "how is themer different from most other launchers?"

Here is some of what nova and other popular launchers like apex, go, etc let you do:

Change grid size
Apply icon packs
Gestures
Alternative screen transition effects
Hide status bar / dock
Organize app drawer
Diff wallpapers each screen
Greater control over widget placement
Etc etc

Themer does many of these things and others. The thing that sets it apart is that it allows you to load a layout that someone arranged and then saved. Buzz launcher does this as well. All that means is someone places a bunch of widgets and icons and wallpaper and saves it all in a neat package. You could say it's the next evolution of some of those other launchers.

I think for most people Themer is the way to go, unless you are very picky about certain things and want very granular control over your layout.

Kinda confused as to why the GS5 has only 2GB of RAM when the Note 3 has 3GB. I think my GS4 could definitely use some more ram at certain points.

The note is bigger?

I am really surprised how much bigger the S5 is than the S4

A lot wider, a lot longer, and thicker. All for a screen that's a tenth of an inch bigger?
2016 Android thread Quote
02-25-2014 , 10:15 PM
well yeah, it's obviously bigger but that has nothing to do with why the S5 only has 2GB of RAM. There are phones out there the same size of the S5 that have 3GB. Samsung also has all the gimmicky features and bloatware that suck up ram. So it is disappointing

CrazyEyez I won't quote the message to save space but thanks for that info. After reading that I think Themer is the way for me to go and I'll just stick with that.

beating a dead horse but god damn I wish they would cram more efficiency into a smaller package instead of throwing more stuff into a bigger package

I rooted my phone the other day and took off all the "bloatware" and my battery life is way better. Normally if I forget to charge my phone at night I'll wake up to a phone on around 20%.

Last night I didn't charge it to see if it would make that big of a difference, well today I woke up with 77% battery left on my phone. Pretty sweet.
