In exchange for $10 million dollars in cash, taxes paid, would you:

Give you your sense of taste for the rest of your life

You'd obviously still need to eat and drink, but you would never again taste any foods or beverages.

Part of the joy of being filthy rich would be eating awesome food all the time, but think of how depressing it would be to never be able to get joy from food again.

Yeah...

Def. I'd prob lose a lot of weight too. Or get insanely fat as I kept trying to eat things and see if I could taste them.

Sight/Hearing I doubt it, though.

So some dickhead could literally serve me a sandwich filled with poop and I'd never know? No thanks.

I think I would. I love food; it's one of my favorite things in life. But for $10 million I think I could learn to do without taste. In fact I think I wouldn't miss it much after the first few weeks. I have a friend who lost his sense of taste after a head injury and he says he doesn't really miss it.

I guess I was assuming that not being able to smell the food was implicit.

A lot of this depends on your expected life earnings. Most of us here (some probably erroneously) probably expect (or currently do) to have a sufficiently high income that $10 million won't mean as much to us as it would to a struggling working class mother of four, or a starving African family. If this was framed somewhat differently (like "$10 million and no sense of taste OR sense of taste and you have to live of a minimum wage job for the rest of your life") it gives a better indication of preferences.

Hell yes. 10 million means I fulfill my dream of retiring tomorrow. While I do enjoy cooking, I enjoy doing nothing even more. Agree with Taso, its the easiest diet in the world.

No. I am not a food person but I still prefer to be able to taste stuff.

Tempting, but no thanks. If i just check my daily life i would be giving up quite some pleasure moments and I'm not sure 10 million could compensate for a lifetime of giving up those moments.

Taste is overrated, prob the most useless sense. Remember everything is covered in salt, sugar and all kind of crappy chemicals to make stuff taste better, probably could be a lot healthier if you were eating just the raw food without the crap on it.
