"on line" is a Jersey thing I never grew out of.

That would be far more interesting than the last OOTer that hit the lotto and used that mid-8 figure windfall to buy a corvette and make some home improvements, and used the other 99% to not share with his family/friends.

Sounds like a very sensible individual.

If I won some sick sum like what ... $600M? Donating about 90%, giving some to friends and family and whatever, and checking out with the more-reasonable $10-$50M.

I'm buying tickets, I'm in, but there's something grotesque about a lottery prize in the billions.

I honestly can't believe people on a gambling website are advocating playing the lottery. If you wan't to win a billion and a half, you are much better off putting 200 million on the pass line and taking full odds.

$2 for a couple of days of good daydreams is just fine with me.

My GFs aunt and uncle won like 10 milly in the lottery. He drives a city bus now and she still tries to act like they are rich by refusing to work and running up massive credit card debt.

Uncle is definitely overcompensating for something.

Does that really happen anymore? We have powerball and mega millions now. Before we did though I did hear about the rushes to state line to buy tickets.

Some of us like to keep track of previous winners and travel to "hot" states to buy tickets.

That is getting rather deep into first world problems territory...

Nevada participates in neither. Nor does Utah, so going east isn't an option for them either.

Ahhh, gotcha. I didn't realize Nevada didn't have it.

lol I drove down to the Primm Lotto store on the CA/NV border on Thursday and there was a 4-hour long wait. I didn't wait. I did wait for an hour on Saturday.

lol, people are so dumb. wait for 4 hours in line to throw their money away. I get that buying a ticket is a cheap entertaining daydream, but surely that goes out the window when you stand in line for hours.

The person that bought for my wife's work pool added the "megaplier" aka megafish option where an extra buck gets you a 2-5x on a non jackpot prize.

The people watching in that line must be top notch.

I realize the lottery obviously isn't a good gamble. I live in Canada, close to the border, and this is the 2nd time I've purchased a Powerball ticket. The other time was last year when it snuck up over a billion.

I think the risk/reward of spending ~$10 twice in my life, giving me a few days of day dreaming was worth the cost of lunch.

Should've purchased a Mega Millions ticket imo.

I did both the work pool and individual tickets. A guy borrowed $3 from me on Monday, then told me today it was for a separate pool. If he wins lol....
