In addition to SG's comments, I feel compelled to add that the author's sixth street analysis section in particular is flat-out awful.

He basically says to give your opponent credit for the best possible hand every time, which is absurd without specific, credible justification based on the action and reads... and is usually absurd even then. So his recommendations are ridiculously conservative.

Actually, this is a trend through the book. The author seems obsessed with saving bets.

I try to get a few good ideas out of every book... and I did get those... so I can't say it was a total waste of money. But you sure better be a good player already with a solid grasp of theory, and run sims on every hand, if you want to separate out the good stuff from the awful stuff.
Well said. In scientific circles we call this kind of conservative thinking "worst case analysis." It's a useful place to start, but usually an awful place to stop.

I give the villain credit for the best possible hand on sixth Street to pay them off anyways.

Maybe this is the fusion of SG and Cogert

sick bump

also i have the book, and i'm not sorry i read it despite it's deficiencies, simply because of the tiny amount of material out there. I'd probably rank it on a par with Lee Jones in terms of LH books, or Angel Largay in terms of NLH.

I hope you don't play at Cake.

Sick bump though

Starting Hand Point System in Razz make sense, but there is no time during game to make those calculations. Are there any shortcuts to this system?

Close enough (which could be the subtitle to this book). Cliffs notes:

1. Author posts on the FTP forum asking about this book as if he has no connection to it.

2. While playing in a razz MTT, author has "impromptu" chat with a railbird who is expressing interest in his book.

3. Author forgets that your screenname on the FTP forum is the same as your player account, or doesn't count on me being able to add 2 + 2 = 4.

Footnote: author's day job is as a marketing consultant, tho his marketing expertise appears to be equivalent to his razz expertise given how this unfolded. Additional sleazy moves by author have been posting "commercials" for his book in the reviews for it on amazon and spamming for it on 2p2.

Yes, use them enough and you'll start to get an intuitive feel for which hands are great, good, fair, and junk. But at first they are much more practical to use for analysis away from the table. Hopefully you'll pick one developed by a long-term winning player and based on rigorous equity simulations and implied odds modeling.

Hi
Do you have time to calculate total points using Poker Razz Starting Hand Point System?
