I will never trust David Sklansky again!! I will never trust David Sklansky again!!

LOL:

I just picked up my old copy of NLHT&P, and turned to the chapter "Betting Yourself Off a Hand." They describe a hand where someone has 45s on a KT2A rainbow board, and is trying to decide whether to bet. Then they say if the trey peels, the player will have the nuts.

Freekin donkeys. I want my money back!

I can imagine it now, the trey comes off and there's a little Sklansky on one shoulder saying "You've got the nuts! You've got the nuts!" And there's a little Ed Miller on the other shoulder saying "You've got the nuts! You've got the nuts!"

ROFL

First Edition, First Printing, June 2006 p. 155 second line. Way too funny.

See also Page vii of that book, (point 2) "what he articulates can be counted on to be accurate."

Even the very best misread a hand: Phil Ivey Mucks The Winning Hand

It happens. It would be foolish to make too much of this sort of thing.

Yes but with the pressure of playing live , the cameras etc. Sklansky is writing a book probably in the comfort of his own home, which should be checked over before release. It would be foolish to compare the two situations.

But I have all his books and to say you wouldn't trust his material over this would be very foolish.

Maybe send him an email so it is corrected if a new version comes out.

Dude, I'm not trying to bust your chops; I put this here for light reading. But seriously, dude. If there's an AKT on board, 45s makes the nuts something like one time in two thousand. Your comparison isn't just apples and oranges, it's like apples and toilet seats.

Why are you wasting our time with a thread like this? Go tell your cat.

Um, because it's extremely funny that two people who are so knowledgeable about the game would make such a boneheaded error.

But I see your point, the word "PLONK" is very funny, too.

GERSTOID.

Geez, take a pen, change the T to a 9, understand the actual point they are making, and get on with your life.

Good luck in your search for a glass that isn't the slightest bit empty.

Was this corrected in later versions? It really just sounds like a typo... I am sure he knows that the A high straight is the nuts in this hand.

Yeah, but with typos, you hit the wrong key because the key's position has nothing to do with its meaning.

Someone had to consciously select the ace, king, and ten to be in the graphic, just like they intentionally made the board rainbow.

It's like your son's name is Tim and you keep calling him Tom. If it's someone you've met once before, it's fine, but not when it's your son.

It's just the funniest thing I've ever seen from Sklansky; that's why I shared.

Why do you torment me, David? This is a nightmare!!

NLHT&P, "Adjusting to Loose Games and Players:"

Protagonist has Q Q and LAG has K 3
Flop comes A A Q

"You roll over your full house, and he realizes he's drawing dead to a runner-runner royal flush." Really, David? Weren't you ever taught not to tell fibs?

Did he also say Runner runner AK or KK could lead to the protagonist dragging said pot?

It was a revolution in poker, not a revolution in editing.
