2+2 Magazine has a preview of his new book on NLHE MTTs. Do you think it will be good, or is he an out of touch dinosaur?

He completely changed the way online players thought about MTTs so i imagine any book he puts out will be solid

I have yet to hear about a new book he is putting out...
I don't think one can ever say a leading player back in the day is ever to old, seeing as he does still compete with the young guns today.

OK, I have a problem with one of the examples in the sample chapter. Harrington has hero opening J9s in the hijack, and then considers the scenario where an "experienced" shortstack on the button shoves at M8. He considers this a clear call with J9s.

I don't think this can be an equilibrium call. The shortstack is burning money if he moves in with a wide enough range for hero to call with as weak a hand as J9s, isn't he?

harrington is going to be solid whatever he puts out. the changes that have happened to the game have come from the most brilliant of the new generation but he's DEFINITELY smart enough to keep up. I plan on getting this - as I would any book of his. he may be outdated, but hes a damn good poker writer

It will be interesting to read this then go back and read his older stuff and compare the differences to see if he has changed his play up a bit to keep up with the times.

I agree with the earlier comments that Harrington keeps up. I have HOH 1, 2 and 3, and he mentions many times that there there was a new group of looser players that are very successful. He saw what was coming.

Harrington also sat down and talked with the authors of Kill Everyone, and they discussed the differences in the stategies laid out in their books. According to Kill Everyone, footnote 12:

"Since the first printing of Kill Everyone, we've talked with Dan Harrington and he agress with us on this point.* If fact, he may even remove the 10-to-1 Rule from future editions of his book."

The bottom line is that Harrington is not, and never has been, out of touch with the trends in tournament poker.

-------------

*Ironically, this is Harrington, who is widely regarded as a tight player, admitting to LAG poker authors that in being willing to play any two cards heads up with a 10-1 chip advantage, he was making a play that was incorrect because it was too loose a call.

Hi Mason,
if you will have to give 3 reasons to buy this book to a MTT player what would it be?
is it really adress new trends and way to master MTT nowadays? and what is audience targetted?
is this book goes beyond what is common written in most of recent tourney books that often tell the same thing? except the kill series, I think there's a lack of fundamental and theorical dedicated to MTT.
thanks

Anyone has an update on what their opinion of the book is?
Is it just a retake of his old book or is there some new stuff in it.
