I like to play Online Poker more than Study and rarely enjoy reading poker books
i have the Harrington On Holdem on my bookcase and was wondering if anyone could give me the more important chapters to read or chapters that you felt helped your tourney`s a great deal.
Like i said im one of those who likes to play instead of read and just not to lazy to read the books.
Carot there are several threads on these books, and I agree with the above. Either read the books or don't bother, a piece here or there isn't really going to give you the full picture of what DH (or any author) is trying to communicate.
If you just want tips and tidbits, the various forums here are full of them. See the stickies in small stakes no limit for example.
If you want to improve your game, read them. If you don't, don't read them. Every page is important.
Simple as that.
I for one have read Harrington's every book with the exception of the newest (I should acquire it soon) and every one of them has improved my game tremendously.
The guy doesn't have the talent to produce bad books imo.
Definitely read the whole book if you really want to improve your game. I recently bought Harrington on Cash Games volume 1 as my first poker book and have read every page and definitely feel that by reading the whole thing I have learned a lot and improved my game. If you miss a section that could be a section that would have actually improved the most in your game, you never know unless you read it.
