At least it was written for smart people, which means pretty much for everyone.

Not sure why I feel like I am being baited in his latest book pitch as if I am an idiot to want to be the "smart" player.

The introduction and sample chapter about static and dynamic boards on Ed's site are as readable as I expected.
I'm not sure the golf/poker comparison is ideal, but I rather like that line "'You don’t play against the other players', the golfer said. 'You play against the course'."

Seems very basic but well-written, as per with Ed Miller books.

Wouldn't poker be the exact opposite of golf in this respect?

A mod should change the thread title IMO.

It was correct when I made the OP

I actually got bored reading the free extract/chapter - and gave up

Hmm...

But I do like Ed's books [except the GTO one]

Be good to see some reviews - as my 'falling asleep' reading the extract, made me not pre order this one

If you got bored and fell asleep, maybe the golf analogy was a good one after all.

I have always liked Miller's stuff. Bought his stuff almost without bothering to look at table of contents.

Not sure why I thought this book would be a continuation of his previous book, but clearly it is not the case.

This book is a more less a beginner's guide.

I am about 1/3 way through and almost done with the beating the 1-2 section. This is definitely more a 'stand alone' book and although complements Ed's other books well, it does not require reading of his other books. I would agree that this is geared more for beginners and intermediates. Ed does do a great job of simplifying concepts and explaining essentially the nuts and bolts of how to beat today's games from a 10,000 to 30,000 ft level. The template is there and would be a good reinforcement for poker readers on the fundamentals of winning.

As a huge NPA Ed Miller fan I'm calling the lack of reviews and enthusiasm for this book the disappointment of the year.

I am trying to find out if this book is worth anything? Is it the same material rehashed? Is there truly anything new? Anyone read it? What are your opinions of it. Most of the ratings on amazon don't say verified purchase. I realize maybe they didn't buy it on amazon and just wrote a review. Thank for your help

Read it and my thought is that this book doesn't have enough value in new materials to justify the cost.

Thank you. Do u play live? I am basically looking for some new techniques for live games as I don't really play hold em except live. Do the ideas have any value for 2-5 and 5-10 games live?

Just curious? Why are you looking for something new? Have you already read and mastered the material that is currently out and it doesn't seem to be working?

Ed's books are all top notch in my opinion. Whether it is worth the cost, well that is up to the individual. Some people think it is worth it to stay at a 5 star hotel and to purchase a Mercedes - some don't. No one is right or wrong.

I am about 60% through on this book and I do like it. Yes, it does overlap a bit on Ed's other books but what makes Ed's books great is that they each focus on a few key concepts and most importantly, he simplies it in an easy to read and digest able way.

I believe (and Ed even hints at it) that this book would be a great prequel read to his last 3 books. Ed basically breaks down in his opinion the key skills you need to have to beat live games between 1-2/1-3 and 5-10. He has a separate section for each.
