They do, but its a lot more obvious with some people. Look at Duhamel. He just hit cards and sucked out in a huge pot. Look at Joe Cada and how many times he continued to get it in bad.

My understanding is that this book is currently only available in French, but they are currently working on an English version.

The title of the book is "Cartes sur table", which could be translated as "Cards on the Table". There is an Agatha Christie book that has the same title, so I don't like it. He got a tv appearence recently in which he talked about it. If I remember correct it's separated in 12 sections that each have a topic such as "Discipline", "Mental strenght" and other stuff like that. It seems to be more of a psychological book than a theory book.

In the same interview Duhamel was asked "Do you think you have a shot at winning the ME again ?", to which he replied "it's 50/50, I either win it again or I don't". I laughed very hard but I'm pretty sure the interviewer didn't get it.

EDIT : Oh damn I got beat hard by the previous poster...

By fantastic do you mean sucked out in a huge pot or always had the better hand? Anytime they showed him he was winning a big pot with JJ, QQ, KK, or AA lol

Has anybody read Jonathan's Final Table: A Winning Poker Approach from A WSOP Champion yet? The 146 pages divided into the following 18 chapters doesn't look like it has advanced tournament strategies, but I'm hoping somebody who has read the book will post a review.

1 Passion
2 Self-confidence
3 Knowing Your Numbers
4 Getting in the Zone
5 Controlling Your Emotions
6 Discipline
7 Perseverance
8 Psychology
9 Knowing Yourself
10 The Thirst for Victory
11 Nerves of Steel
12 Caution
13 Endurance
14 Creativity
15 Intuition
16 Taking Risks
17 Luck
18 Experience
Conclusion

Blowing my own horn, a review of this book can be found in the April 2013 2+2 Magazine.

I agree with your review that the book does not seem informative/insightful and "there are some places in the book where I believe Duhamel gets it wrong." I think the worst mistake is in the third chapter "Knowing Your Numbers." I was shocked that Duahmel got the pot odds/equity examples wrong! He uses a "cost-benefit ratio" of 37.5% (call $15 into a pot on $40) instead of saying that you need 27% (15/55) equity in order to make calling correct, or need 2.7-to-1 pot odds to call. Any Duhamel wanna-bes just learning about pot odds will lose money from this book!

npc, what is the best recent tournament book that you have reviewed?

How recently? Does the book itself have to be recent? Due to my schedule last year, I didn't read as many books as I have in years past, so that affects things.

The last decent tournament book I read was almost a year and a half ago, when I finally read Michael Craig's "Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide", but the book itself was published in 2007. About the same time I read "Raisers Edge" which has a lot of stuff I liked in it. That's what I've read that's been worthwhile on tournament poker over the last few years. Hope that helps a little.

Wow, that is an ancient book now, along with the two Poker Tournament Formula books. I made a lot of money for a recreational player from all three books, but they're outdated now especially in the tough online world.

Any plans to review 2+2's upcoming Applications of No-Limit Hold ’em soon after it comes out?

Not to blow NPC's horn, but he also reviews PTF in this month's 2plus2 Magazine.

I read the 2+2 Magazine article, but my point is that good poker books quickly get read by their target audience. It's pointless to publish a poker book review years after it has already been read by most of its audience.
