Positively Fifth Street by James McManus has good reviews. I just bought it but haven't read it.

My all-time favorite is CARDS by Jonathan Maxwell

Mike Matusows: Check Raising the Devil. One of the best books I ever read. It was the catalyst in helping me get clean and getting my act together. Duhamel's book Final Table: A Winning Poker Approach from a WSOP Champion where he chronicles his Main Event win was really good as well. I had a lot of respect for him after reading that.

The Education Of A Poker Player (1957) by Herbert O. Yardley.

Half of it is stories; half of it is strategy.

Hey Mason:

I hope it's okay to make a suggestion that does not involve a book. But when I get my copy of Knights of the Green Cloth, I will be listening to Aaron Copland and sipping a good bourbon.

My personal favorites are Professor, the banker and suicide king, the Game and Positively fifth street (sorry, I went with 3)

For you to decide, I think it depends on what you like:

The Professor, the banker and suicide king and The Game if you want to get a glimpse of what the world of underground high stakes poker is like

Big Deal by Anthony Holden, Checkraising the devil by Mike Matusow and Making of a poker player by Matt Matros are more about the journey of becoming or being a full time professional player. Mike's book also addresses the demons of addictions.

Positively fifth street by James McManus is a classic and is more about the WSOP, Binions and how the WSOP was like before the poker boom

Poker Tilt by Dutch Boyd - chronicles Dutch's life and gives a lot of good stories about the early days of online poker and how it evolved.

This is a perfect description. It was by far the hardest read of all the poker books in that ilk. Kind of like The Mathematics of Poker is compared to other poker strategy books.

Currently reading the Molly Bloom book after reading Rubberband Stories by Tommy Angelo. Enjoyed the Angelo book and really getting into the Bloom book.

Big Deal by Anthony Holden is the best of the lot.
Next is Shut Up and Deal by Jesse May (might be more fiction than fact, but a great read).

My favourites are Big Deal by Holden and The Biggest Game In Town by A. Alvarez. As a teenager just learning about the colourful world of poker, my favourite was a beat up old copy of Amarillo Slim's Plsy Poker To Win.

I greatly enjoyed Victoria Coren's memoir, which seems to have been published under several titles: 'For Richer For Poorer... A love affair with poker... Confessions of a player...'

She's a great teller of anecdotes, and the stories about UK grinders (and degenerates) during the 2000s are by turns hilarious and heartbreaking. Intermittent discussion of some crucial hands from her first EPT win help to drive along the story.

"Ghosts at the Table" by Des Wilson has a lot of interesting stories, ranging from the old west to modern day road gamblers. Fairly well researched and well told IMO.

"Fast Company" by Jon Bradshaw is based on interviews with some of the well known poker players and hustlers from the mid-20th century. Some good stories, but not sure how accurate they all are.
